You sound kind of dumb if you think you will work in web design and totally "give-up" on html. I don't think you understand that html is the core language of the internet. Without it, you cannot have flash - simply put. I for one, think the future of web design is between the cohesive relationship between css, xml, backend db administration and flash. That is a logical step.
I think that macromedia should start concentrating on putting the pressure on browser makers to create a browser on the mac that can actually use the as functions to communicate between html and flash.
I say you push yourself to learn browser compatabilities. It isn't that difficult anymore. NN 4 is all but extinct and now the top three browsers act very similar in CSS and HTML resepects, although it seems that IE is still the king of CSS compliancy.
