It is not the mouse. It is the surface that you are sliding the mouse around on.
If the surface has any 'reflective' properties whatsoever you will be seeing the mouse freak out from time to time. I agree this is TOTALLY ANNOYING, yet fixable.
A fabric table cloth will work, as will a news print, or neoprene mouse pad.
