Was the intention of the euro just create the illusion of a single currency?

-----------------------------the whole european project is led by "unity in diversity". Sounds like a paradox and it kind of is. as well as a headache.
the euro was to improve the functioning of the internal market which had been in development since WW2 ended.
but yes, there is no harmonisation in terms of regional economies. in some ways the problems in relation to the euro are caused by the things that the people who want the euro disbanded want. if that makes any sense.....................
