the fact is that Bush played a major move with the Iraq affair (ok, someone told him to play that move...), creating an internal division in Europe and saving up the $ ass in the short-run.
the fact is that Arab countries (like Iraq) were planning to bargain oil in Euro, so all the huge amount of dollars that the US keeps running around the world would be as valuable as shit. That would be enough to collapse the entire US so the Iraq war had to be played, and, curiously, the world's balance is about to retrace into the 70's again.
