a marine biologist friend of mine once told me that whales were originally land animals. bovines, actually, with really long spindly legs like somthing dali would invent. and then they had to start foraging for marine plankton and ended up going out to sea for good and losing their legs.
christ almighty, do i ever hope that's true!
