i would mind the composition plan and not so much the resolution. it all fits when nicely drawn and people will like it and pesure in any format if it's interesting.
when i say 'people' i'm excluding Nielsen of course.
i've studied web interfaces for too long to no profit and so I came to realize that people prefer to scroll vertically most of all. that means you can safely draw for screen proportions around 80-85% of its width and not mind its height. just mind the proportions of your work. the user will feel it's balance if there is one.
