go for the nostril piercing! i was thinking about getting one as well - that or the side of my lip.
as far as the septum goes, i have a 4 gauge flared plug in mine and i've never had one problem with it. ill be 25 next week and i have it pierced since i was 17. i never wear it anymore, just the plug. people sometimes have some intresting reactions to piercings etc. if they ever pass out give em a cold wet rag and a coke - theyll be fine - worked everytime we had a problem at the place where i worked.
whatever ya get, keep'r clean and make sure its a reputable place. if it's getting infected dont take it out - if it closes while its infected the infection is trapped, and that's nooooo good.
