JakeyJ - thanks for asking. I have my degree in Poltical science but a minor in religion. (how I do graphic design for a living beats me..) I was also raised Catholic and spent K-12 in a private Jesuit school. Jesuits take no shit and are Catholicisms logical killer dogs.

I struggled with my own faith for a long time but have come to my own conclusions which I keep private. But I take scholarship in religion and how it relates to politics very seriously.

i do take issue with the modern christian fundamentalist movement in America today. It frankly scares me, especially as it's proponents move into positions of power now.

It's really nothing new - it's a cyclical part of christianity's history - but one I thought was in te past. Scary to see it flare up again.

You CANNOt argue with discipler on this stuff. He hand picks the facts and chooses to see what he wants to see and is bound by his faith in the Word of God as displayed in his interpretatio of he Bbe limit what can be known and what can't. You come at him from a purely scientific/logical frame of reference won't mean jack shit.

As I said it's one of christianities oldest survival tactics - co-option. It's other survival strategy was to insure that Christians would always feel persecuted - it's in the fundamental psychology of the religion.

Hence Christian fundamentals in the US claim persecution at every turn but no churches are burned, no bibles burned, no places of worship barred, and christian evangelicals are on my TV every Sunday. Yet to hear them talk they are a tiny minority scrambling against "mainstream" persecution.

    Ow well...
