It's funny - that christianity has a rich and varied history with all sorts of offchoots and so forth. Eventuallt all of them calm down and play nice nice. But these american fundies man, tey're young, theologically speaing. They got the fire of god in 'em, and they think they've got the whole christian thing figured out.
Lots of christian groups did that in the past - led to stake burnings, inquisitions and crusades. They mistake the map for the territory so to speak.
They haven't gotten around to burning anyone quite yet, but I am sure they will. Bush did mention "crusade" and then said "Oops...".
After much division and hatred and killin in the name of god they'll play nice until the next group of christians come along who "really" know what god wanted will have the fir o' god in 'em. They'll probably be burning disciplers grandson.
More things change, more they stay the same...
