I was a smoker for 16 years. I just quit 11 months ago. You cannot rely on nic gum or patches because it still feeds your system the nicotine it craves. There is no magic 21 day mark from my experience. Shit, I still crave them now and then, just not every day. It is a very gradual decline. The only way to quit is just do it. However, I had a lot of help from Ranch flavored sunflower seeds. Also, I did alot of things during cravings that typically don't go well with smoking. Drink Milk and Orange Juice. Ate fruit. Run around the building at work. My coworkers got a kick out of that. Although I agree you should enjoy life, if you really want to quit, then you must have your reasons for that too. Your brain will trick you though into justifying your need for nicotine.
