      About Michael...

      Armed with a diploma in Graphic Design and his obsessions with graffiti, bizarre sketches and great curiosity of moving toys, Michael began his advertising career as an intern at DY&R Malaysia. After a short stint, he joined Spider Network, a creative hotshop as Junior Art Director in 1994. Three years later he was snatched up by Bozell Worldwide Malaysia as Art Director.

      1999 finds Michael in a faraway Kingdom of China, working at BBDO Beijing. Later, he found himself working at odd places such as Grey Worldwide Beijing, TBWA Shanghai, Ogilvy & Mather Beijing, Euro RSCG Beijing and Saatchi & Saatchi Beijing.

      Throughout his career, Michael has made the truth appealing for clienteles like Lexus, Peugeot, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, DHL, WWF, Greenpeace, RedBull, Siemens, Xian Janssen Pharmaceutical, Adidas, Martell, MARS, Reckitt Benckiser, FedEx - just to name a few.

      To date, Michael has won over 50 awards including 3 Cannes Lions shortlists; One Show merit; 5 Clio shortlists; a winged statue for the Best of Art Direction and a few Finalists at the London International Advertising Awards; 2 Golds, 2 Silvers and a handful of Finalists at the New York Festivals International Advertising Awards; Finalists at Adfest & Spikes, Silver and Bronze Effie Awards; Finalist at World Press Awards, Bronze at LongXi as well as some wins in the China award shows. At the 2004 China Automobile Advertisement Awards, his work for VW Touareg & New Beetle won Silver, 2 Bronzes, Best Copywriting and swept the Best Agency Performance accolade.

      He has been judging for the New York Festivals International Advertising Awards and Ad Stars Festival.

      Michael returns to his native Malaysia once a year to see his old graffiti, bizarre sketches and moving toys. He currently resides in Beijing with his wife, two adorable cherubs and Macho the puppy.
