Biography
Layne Braunstein is currently freelancing, and open for business. He was most recently the Creative Director, Design at BARK BARK .
Layne’s fresh broadcast work can be seen everywhere combining new illustration styles and insightful animation. His talents can be seen on many networks such as Disney, Fuse, Nickelodeon, Spike, USA Network, Noggin, Lifetime, TLC, G4, and CNN. Layne was nominated for Best of Show at SXSW Interactive, holds an AIGA SEED Award for Best Flash Site, and his work is seen frequently in national and international design mags & sites. He has also recently been featured in Promax Best Practices 2008, and received a Boston Ad Club’s Rosoff Award.
Before working with BARK BARK, Layne was a Senior Art Director of motion graphics/GUI design for General Electric, Cox Communications, Bellsouth, Yahoo, & AT&T. He has done the “.com” thing as well, and loved every Herman Miller chair minute of it.
Layne’s latest side project is MadeThisForYou.com. Briefly; MadeThisForYou was formed to give professionals and creatives a place to discuss, collaborate and implement various design solutions for social change. we.MadeThisForYou is the product design side of MTFY- prototypes are currently in production :-).
In addition to the commercial work, Layne works as an artist, focused on pure design. His most current online art project is junkt.com. It features dynamically created artwork that fuses video, graphics, and programming into several pieces. His attitude can also be seen in his contribution to the CRE824 and 48 Hour Film Festival competitions.
Beyond the screen, Layne has a massive 24 foot installation piece on backlit red plexi-glass that can be seen at The Royal in downtown Atlanta and was featured in both Peach and Jezebel magazines.
Layne was featured/interviewed on Voice America’s “Design Matters with Debbie Millman” - Bad Boys of Design Episode. Check out the podcast.
Layne is moving back home to New York City from Atlanta.
