Pretty much every film in the history of cinema.
It's called a character arc and is pretty much essential.
http://www.elementsofcinema.com/…- It's not about the character changing, but the perspective on the character.ORAZAL
- What yuri is talking about is a character that was good from the start but the sheeple just couldn't see it until the end.ORAZAL
- same thingfadein11
- as a viewer perspective is all we have.fadein11
- OK.ORAZAL
- ok so you are talking about who the viewer perceives the character - this is all part of the character arc and how he/she is written.fadein11
- I agreed with you. I take back what I said.
Sorry.ORAZAL - how*fadein11
- How?
Since I can't delete my previous statements think of my retraction as an affidavit.ORAZAL - haha - no - i was correcting my who to how in my original comment.fadein11
- all good.fadein11

Coen brothers
Millers crossing
one could argue No Country for old men.Another argument could be Coppla's classic Dracula (hey I'm a Goth I like it!) .
Most of Akira Kurosawa's later works, Throne of Blood say, but that's based of Shakespeare - so there's another thread to go down.
Starting off 'bad' and ending 'good' - Shotaro Kanada from Akira.
there's Irreversible
TV wise - Breaking bad, through he always was 'bad'.
More clear cut - TWD. They start of clear defined good and gets murkier as they try to survive.

This is one of, if not my favorite topic when it comes to characters in movies. I really hate the idea of traditional good guy, bad guy stereo-types. The truth is everyone is both, one mans hero is another ones monster. No one is without sin.
The key is to find someone thats so bad, he can never be seen as good, not 100%. They have redemption in some way... but their sins are so bad they can never be pure.
Honestly the best example right now is Game of Thrones, how many people have you absolutely hated at some point, only to feel for them. Jamie, Theon, shit Ramsey was a likable guy in the beginning he was on the Starks side avenging them from Theons betrayal.
With that being said here a couple thoughts on the subject:
- Training Day: I absolutely love this character. One of my top 5 movies of all time. The guy who wrote it likes to play with this scenario. BUT, you have it wrong. In training day, he was never good. He was evil and stayed evil. He was a great example of a manipulator, no moral and soulless. Love how he draws you in as a friend, even when it was all in the open, he still brings you in.
Any way, a better example would be Street Kings, Reeves character was a pretty conflicted guy. Does bad shit, but you feel for him and is essentially good.
- Payback with Mel Gibson. They sell you Porter as a bad guy, but really he has a heart of gold. Cares for his wife, rescues the hooker he loves.
- Good, Bad and Ugly: I mean Tuco and Blondie are essentially bad guys that are just not as bad as Angle Eyes.
- Bad Santa: Movies like this are too easy.
Bad to good is easy, its good to bad where it gets fun.
The one story I love is the original "I AM LEGEND"
Like the movie theres a guy who survives some crazy outbreak, but its more like vampires. Anyway, as the sole surviver he hunts them and tries to eliminate these monsters... but it turns out he's the monster. Because the world is full of vampires, they are the natural in habitants of earth... and he comes to their homes at night and kills them in their sleep. They're scared of him and children hear stories of him. He is the bad guy.Its fucking fantastic.
One mans hero, is another ones monster. ;)
- Are you talking about the Omega Man?Ianbolton
- One mans hero, is another ones monster is great because that is what life is all about. We think we are all angles. But we trample on ants under our feet...HAYZ1LLLA
- ...murder cows to eat, make poor children sew our trainers and destroy the planet to get to work quickly.HAYZ1LLLA
- All about perspective innit. The original
I AM LEGEND sounds great. Pity you spoilered the ending for me ;-)HAYZ1LLLA - thanks for sharing :)yurimon
- ^^ yes, Omega ManGnash
- memento was good for thatmonNom
- Omega Man, I AM LEGEND, Last man on Earth are based on the original novel of IAL. Book is still worth reading even if you know the plot. Shit, might audible itsofakingback

Bad Santa?
- Are you on crack?HAYZ1LLLA
- Haha. Actually a good example.monospaced
- It's not though. Yuri is looking for someone perceived to be bad at the start of the film but is actually good. Bad Santa IS a cunt but changes right at the endHAYZ1LLLA
- haha - thanks monovivid
- somehow, someone who speaks truth is cunt in your world.yurimon

MONSTERS film is kinda like that.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo…)Most of the film you hear about the monsters being evil beings and people fearing them.
At the end you realise that they are living beautiful things too.
