I dropped a glass of water on my Macbook and now the keyboard barely works and the WiFi no longer works at all. The Apple Store said it would cost $400 for a new top case & keyboard, and I would need a new logic board for the wifi to work again.
With that said, Im looking for a used one because new macbook pros are around 2K.
Any leads on a place to find a good deal on a used or refurbished?

The Broken Keys are the Space Bar / Delete key / and the arrows so its a bitch to type a sentence because I have to paste a space every time I need one.

The price might drop this month since a new macbook pro is likely to be released.

I just learned about Sager laptops the other day. I know not mac... http://www.sagernotebook.com/hom…
but...
You can get one with macbook pro hardware for about $1350. Or customize a different one with way better hardware. I just had my work order me a rad one for $1804 out the door. Has one of the new 512gb samsung 950 drives, a 3GB 970M card, 16GB ddr4 (64GB expandable) 1TB storage drive, onkyo speakers, full macro keyboard. in a 15.6" form factor, 1hdmi, 2dp, 4 usb3.0, ethernet, S/PDIF. A bunch of raid options too if you need. 2yr standard warranty. Pretty good bang for the book.

- My macbook has almost identical specs and I paid over 1900 at B&H a few months ago, so sounds like a good deal to mepinkfloyd

- Sounds amazing, but where is it coming from? Apple refurbs look like new computers, this might be some other type of refurb?nb
- hmm.

- Looks like a good deal, but keep in mind through Apple refurb site you get 1 year warranty as if brand new with option for AppleCare. This looks like 90 days.ArmandoEstrada
- dude that is the same price as todays laptops with years old hardware...deathboy

why not just get a wifi usb dongle and a bluetooth keyboard? or if you are running low on usb ports, get a usb splitter.

- actually I hooked a dongle up last night and it worked. I'm using a usb keyboard right nowdbloc

have you opened it and dried the inside?
happened to me two weeks ago. opened it took out the hds and the battery and dried everything. worked fine the next day. in my experience the keys often come back after a while when they completely dried out. (unless you had something sugary in the drink of course)

Happened something similar to me with my 2007 MacBook.
Keyboard stopped working, not totally but enough for the need to use an extra keyboard and it didn't started.
After I tried to dry it the best I could I opened it and tried to dry as much in the inside.
I closed it and left it upside down.
Then after some hours reading in forums what to do I turned the laptop upside down, had it before, over a plastic box like the ones to stock veggies.
Put a ventilator underneath it but not to hot cause it can affect the circuits and after 3 days it was working again.
It worked for one month but the keyboard was still affected.
After that time it stopped booting.
Ended up buying a second hand mid-2009 MacBook Pro and I'm pretty happy with it.
Good luck!

I bought mine in Ebay.
But I considered to buy a refurbished one.
Saw some good deals after buying mine like a 2014 MacBook Pro with retina display for 750€ in local Ebay.
If I had the money I would have bought a refurbished one or would have given more for a laptop I could physically check before making a decision.

You might try asking around if any of your friends work at large agencies. A lot of times IT departments will sell machines once their lease is up for real cheap.

I've bought my last 2 Macbook Airs from Gumtree and they've worked just fine. The current one I saved like £300

If you can, wait. Theres a keynote coming up and it's likely apple will release new models.

At worst the new models will suck and like have one usb c connector and the older models will go down in price.
