    • Ill make this simple. Nobody understands. Nobody ever will. You are literally the only one who understands and deep down you know that because you are specialmonospaced
    • Even if everyone insists that they do understand you will know deep down that they really do not and it is your mission to remind them. There. You're done.monospaced

"Consider that there are more African Americans behind bars today than there were enslaved at any given time in American history and it becomes clear how corporations got their “work around” to keep slavery 100% legal. This is nothing new. This is the way it has been since slavery was supposedly abolished."

    • but but, bernie told us, he want to close the for profit prisons...GeorgesII
    • Thought Barnie was going to end this?

The system is, and always has been, a tool for control. The whole legal system feels like it's run more on money than justice. This is exactly why I decided not to pursue a law career. And now that money is a system that is falling apart, the financial aspect of the prison system is going to get hit hard. Yes, this is a huge issue, and yes it exposes a lot of bad practices and vague laws that should be re-addressed if we are going to make moves in the right direction.

    Is that better?

    • "feels like"? You mean, it is.

Did you originally want to pursue a law career. I know a few lawyers who are fighting the good fight, they aren't all bad.

    • Yes, I did originally start pursuing a law career, but luckily I fell in love with design while in school.monospaced
    • Also got to witness some pretty harsh sentences in court cases back then, and knew I didn't want to be a part of it.monospaced
    • thats cool. pretty interesting. you were in criminal law?yurimon
    • Studied lots of law in Sociology undergrad. Sat in a lot of court cases. And saw a man arraigned for drunk driving and accidentally killing my friend too.monospaced
    • I've seen the power of money and argument trump justice before my very eyes. Knew I couldn't be a part of it.monospaced
    • good for you, that world could eat your soul for sure. terrible thing about your friend. :(yurimon
    • that world is eating the souls of so many people who are in the system for the wrong reasonsmonospaced
    • monospaced... i hear you. incredible to hear your history; had no idea. is it bad that i wish you'd stuck with it. i think you'd be on the right side of the lawbklyndroobeki
    • which is so needed. but you're also a kick ass designer so... idk... ;)bklyndroobeki
