guys... who's gone back and forth from 2 big side-by-side monitors to one big Apple display?
Just curious what your preference was after experiencing both.
I'm looking to use some office space 2-3 times a week... I need to buy a monitor or a couple monitors to plug my laptop into. I use 2 side-by-side monitors at home... I'm thinking about going to an Apple display as a buddy is offering to part with it cheaply... but will I like it?
- Yes you will. No more head turning.
Your neck and back will thank you.hobgoblin - I do it all the time. I have a 15" MBP and a 24" external at work, but I have a 27" iMac at home, and prefer that. If it were 5k it could be even better.monospaced
- thanks, guys... I think I'm going to buy-up this apple display before I miss the chance. :)PonyBoy

Ahoy chaps! I'm shopping for a new monitor, thought I'd go ultra-wide so I can have all my toolbars open and keep my laptop screen for email/browser/skype etc.
Any thoughts and/or experiences? I saw one review that said that for creative work it's definitely better not to get a curved screen, which makes a whole lot of sense... straight lines becoming curved etc would make everything look a little out of whack.
Tempted by the LG 34WN650-W it's pretty inexpensive.
1080p which means I'll see what the clients see. High resolution screens are great for me, but if designs look great on my screen but shitty on client side, what's the point? The 34WN750-W is 1440p and €100 more. Worth the extra?
- I can't imagine a 34" monitor that is 1080p (I can't imagine working at such a low res, seems like that would defeat the purpose of a large screen)formed
- I use Dell's 32" Ultrasharp https://www.dell.com…formed
- LG 34WN650-W color sucks, I know because im on one now, when I need color I have to move shit to one of my other 3 monitorsmoldero
- what formed said ... 1080p on anything larger than 13" is going to look bad. At 27" or higher it's full 4K res or nothingmonospaced
- I have a 27" Dell UltraSharp that feels like an extension of the MBP screen. It is also USB-C, so it charges my Mac and is a USB hub too.monospaced
- Dell 27" Ultrasharp as main and a 21" for docs, social or mail, side by side. Now I've got a 24" instead of the 21", but very happy with the setup.OBBTKN
- ^ for print stuff, it's worth having a good monitor. But for digital, why have an amazing screen if everyone else is on shitty screens?...Projectile
- ....My colleagues are always submitting stuff with illegibly small type and dull colours, because they're on 27" retina Mac screens!Projectile
- @Projectile, most people use phones, which have amazing screens. Gotta design for the best, not the worst.monospaced
- 27" Dell Ultrasharp as well, but god it must be 10 years old or more at this point.ben_
- I am a huge fan of the Dell Ultrasharp line. Those are the only monitors I trust. I currently have the 34" curved. The curve felt weird for 5 minutes, but...nocomply
- ...after that I didn't notice it. I don't do print work so color accuracy isn't super important to me. But the clarity is great.nocomply
- DELL U2720Q Display too. Love it.thumb_screws
- U2720Q calibrated with i1pro. After a month a vertical green line appeared when I cleaned it, which suggests that the assembly is not the best.isaca

anyone use/recommend this one:
https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/m…- I bought one a few weeks ago. It's really nice. The aspect ratio is v useful for some tasks, a bit weird for others. Limited colour adjustments. Out of the boxFax_Benson
- sRGB is fine. It's super sharp - text vectors look amazing. Port placings, menu could have been better thought out.Fax_Benson
- I previously used the same monitor for 7- yrs, so I can't really compare it to much. Generally, the reviews are pretty accurate.Fax_Benson
- Its definitely a bit murky an inch or so from the sides - consistency is a bit of an issue.Fax_Benson
- Ah right. Thanks for the review!shapesalad
- No worries. I have a MS Surfacebook, which is also 3:2 - that's what swung it.Fax_Benson
- At that price you’ll definitely be getting a good monitor but with significant cost saving measures, like lowest end materials and build quality, and poor QCmonospaced
- You could pay a bit more and get a similar refurb Dell that is built better and probably had a better picture. But it’s not bad.monospaced
- The looks and build are great. Definitely under-priced in that respect.Fax_Benson

Just got one of these. Love it. Amazing that it feels smaller than my old 32" (it's not as tall).
- 43". I can't imagine ever using less than 32".formed
- Why is the stand so ugly? I've not looked at non apple stuff in a while, it's all an eye sore.shapesalad
- It would be nice if it wasn't curved, but you don't notice it on a desk...and it comes w the monitor...and is infinitely adjustable.formed

- Thought you were looking to use an old iMac as a monitor?Ianbolton
- my iMac is pretty good, seems a shame to rip it all out. 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4 GBshapesalad
- Knew DTP guys using this brand a few years back...grafician
- ^ I remember this brand being quality 20 years ago, haven't heard that name in a long timeformed
- use it as a heater? set in on fire and watch?
it was a cheap but not that shite brand 20 years ago, 22" had the same panels like the world famous 22dells.sted - < We've got these at work (the iiyamas). They're awful.Continuity

When I started working from home I got out the trusty old Planar 1080 with 1 HDMI input from my garage, hooked her up, and here we still are. She was free, she works, and that's really all there is to this story.

Samsung U28R55
Not height-adjustable, and the stand is as ugly as a jar of pickled arseholes, but — for the price — it's awesome.

I will admit that I wouldn't mind one of those spiffy new Apple displays, though.

Hi! I need a new monitor as my Macbook Pro (2019) seems to have heat issues with my (very old) external Cinema Display.
I am looking around 27', mainly Graphic design (good color accuracy) an preferably under 1000€/$
Any suggestions from what you are using? Thanks!
- Dell 27grafician
- My wife & I use (and love): https://www.benq.com…ideaist
- I got the Dell U2723QE and it’s a fantastic monitor. Apple Display is better, but not worth nearly 3X. If you want to save a tiny bit, the Dell U2720Qnb
- Thanks guys. I will check them.a_aachen
- I followed nbs advice an ordered the U2723QE... excited how it will be...a_aachen
- @ideaist that looks goodGnash
- @Gnash price is right; only downfalls are I. No USB-C AND II. No camera so an external solution is needed. BUT again price is right regardless.ideaist

samsung 4k tv 43inch
have a second apple thunderbolt as a reference monitor for playback and as a hub for the laptop.took a minute to get used to it, but its great for editing as you have screen space for days.
also useful as I can bump up the scaling so I can see it from across the studio when I'm not working directly infront of it.
