Wonderful film. Not a moment wasted. Great editing, and the way the soundtrack breaks the fourth wall is so cool. 9/10

I expected it to be another self grandiose movie about filmmaking and the struggling artist. It much greater than that, and more about loss, self worth and life fulfillment. The camera work was extraordinary, saturated with long takes and tricky movement. The acting was perfect.
What a great film.

My brother (a jazz drummer and music teacher) just told me more about the score – Antonio Sanchez did a live performance of it at the Ace theater in DTLA.

Proper drummers film. I also heard that it lost out on grammy awards because it was all improvised.

y'know, "out"

I really want to see it soon. Can someone tell me - and only if this does not spoil the movie - are the crazy things that happen happening in his mind, or are they really happening? Shit blowing up, that creature flying behind him, etc.

Birdman? More like Birdshit!
Seriously though...
I didn't find this all that special and didn't get what all the hype was about. I feel like the insane camera work was used to enhance the otherwise kinda boring film. Keaton is great, as is Norton, but Emma Stone is overrated IMO. My favorite part was the titles and how the letters built on with the drum hits. And Zach G as an "ordinary" character doesn't work for me. He's pigeonholed in my book.

Can see why people either loathe or love it but I am happy to say I fell into the latter camp. Incredible, original filmmaking. Need more like this. Nice to see two left-fielders vying for Best Picture this year.
