Back in the ol'Agency Days I put in a few 24+ hourers, and I've got repressed memories of two jobs in my current line where I'd fucked up timings and ended up doing 24+ hours to sort it all out. One time with my hands in buckets of cold water for about 8 hours of the full day, manically cleaning char dust off silicone, because my test material didn't burn, but the stuff the client sent me did. Fun times. Hands were broken for days after that...
Although they don't tend to be focused on a 'single project', I regularly do 14+ hour days — I wouldn't even find that sort of time noteworthy, to be honest.
Helps that I'm doing my own thing, and would rather pile on times on top of each other and have more time off otherwise... also, some of my job can be done with a joint and a drink in hand (once all the complex stuff's organised, obviously), which helps.
- similarly, most of my 24hr runs were my screwing up the timingGnash

Generally, trying to do complex mental or creative stuff after 12 hours in a sitting is stupid behaviour though, and probably indicative of hapless management and procedures.
- Yes, they don't care about you.studderine
- we had a project manager that would fuck around in her office all day until 5, then start giving us projectsscarabin
- Didn't have to do the work; don't care about you.studderine

Back in 2006 I was the designer for a monthly edited trend mag.
Each "closing" of the mag lasted around 30 hours. Living hell. And it happened during 4 years, each month...I remember hearing voices and feeling some kind of nervous glitches. Also, the day after was frequently distorted in time/cognitive aspects. Throwing InDesign / illustrator shortcuts inside my head -for example, accidentally dropping something on the floor and throwing a Ctrl+Z- was a common thing.
I was 25.
