A few all-nighters but the worst was 9am - 5pm the following day back in 1998, then straight on to the red-eye to LA for E3... Never again.

i guess 20h straight non stop/sleep. not healthy at all...became a zombie next day. it was last year too, working on some pitch.
i've heard you have only a few days to be working overnight on your life, it causes irreversible damage to your brain
- Brain damage?! Fuck it! Well worth the pitch that you probably didn't win!studderine
- < yep feel, irreversible, crazy eh?bklyndroobeki

Back in 2006 I was the designer for a monthly edited trend mag.
Each "closing" of the mag lasted around 30 hours. Living hell. And it happened during 4 years, each month...I remember hearing voices and feeling some kind of nervous glitches. Also, the day after was frequently distorted in time/cognitive aspects. Throwing InDesign / illustrator shortcuts inside my head -for example, accidentally dropping something on the floor and throwing a Ctrl+Z- was a common thing.
I was 25.

Generally, trying to do complex mental or creative stuff after 12 hours in a sitting is stupid behaviour though, and probably indicative of hapless management and procedures.
- Yes, they don't care about you.studderine
- we had a project manager that would fuck around in her office all day until 5, then start giving us projectsscarabin
- Didn't have to do the work; don't care about you.studderine

Back in the ol'Agency Days I put in a few 24+ hourers, and I've got repressed memories of two jobs in my current line where I'd fucked up timings and ended up doing 24+ hours to sort it all out. One time with my hands in buckets of cold water for about 8 hours of the full day, manically cleaning char dust off silicone, because my test material didn't burn, but the stuff the client sent me did. Fun times. Hands were broken for days after that...
Although they don't tend to be focused on a 'single project', I regularly do 14+ hour days — I wouldn't even find that sort of time noteworthy, to be honest.
Helps that I'm doing my own thing, and would rather pile on times on top of each other and have more time off otherwise... also, some of my job can be done with a joint and a drink in hand (once all the complex stuff's organised, obviously), which helps.
- similarly, most of my 24hr runs were my screwing up the timingGnash

15s were pretty common at my last shop

If I need to work 14+ hours to get something done then what does that tell you about the project/company/people? Fuck off.

done a few 24 hour stint over the years, glad to say haven't had to put shift in like that for a while. Really don't think it is good for the soul!

Somewhere in the low twenties. Had to work with developers overseas on a launch after full day with stateside colleagues.
But once I managed to bill 28 hours within a 24 hour period. Part of the 20 hours spent on press for one client (all billable time while on press) was spent prepping another clients AR for the following week.

38 hours straight, doing work for BBDO / AT&T pitch. Put a toll on me big time. In my younger years of course. Haven't done half that since.
- Might as well work at a sweatshop. Do they make mens apparel too?studderine
- I'm wasn't an employee, a vendor. Rush fees...fyoucher1

At the agency I used to work at I once worked from 9am til 5am or 6am the next day. That was like 20-21 hours. I then went home for a short nap and came back at 9am and by noon my then boss just told me to go home and rest.
Was always doing a little over time there, but luckily she was a fair person and she cared to pay for any over time that was done.

I wonder if creativity peaks and dips continually... during certain times.
