^utopian, it's not a secret that destabilizing iran is the end goal of the war on terror. in the article below, kissinger goes through the wmd angle of it which has certain validity. it is interesting that he never touches on the topic of oil, which is why we got the ayatollah kicked out in the first place in favor of this pseudo democratic theocracy they have going on. we figured pushing the iranians to culturally revert back to the stone age would make them easier to handle. anyways, in the 'ask a muslim thread' people were constantly asking why non radicalized muslims don't make some grand gesture or statement against isis, i think people don't grasp how divided islam is between it's two largest factions, it's all polotics. kissinger says it better than i can though

And note a human can go for more than three weeks without food and The maximum time an individual can go without water seems to be a week — an estimate that would certainly be shorter in difficult conditions.

Unfortunate dilemma....privacy vs. (perceived) safety. I have to believe that if they want in, they'll find a way in. If they are successful, we'll never know about it, at least until after the fact.
I am more concerned about random companies having my location than I am about Big Brother spying.

I lost track of everything.
Now is ISIS a western manufactured org that the west is fighting against? Are Kurds who are getting armed heavily by west at the moment are the new ISIS? Since their leader won the oil reserves back from ISIS and now trying to sell it to the west as a part of his property? WTF is going on?

Watched this doc by Al Jazeera the other day. It does a good job explaining how the U.S. helped create ISIS by grouping radical militants together in prisons in Iraq. Apparently the same thing happens in France where the prison population is 70% Muslim.

I think that if any of us believe the world works this way, truly believe that it works this way, ie one giant conspiracy for the rich to make more money then we would all join ISIS or or any other radical anti-establishment, anti-capatalist or anti-globolaization group and burn it all to the ground.
But other than spouting conspiracy bullshit on the internet, we're doing fuck all.

I've had this debate a bunch of times, as we all probably have. I don't think $$$ and communication will help much. I'd almost think it would make things worse, as the "barbarians" will leverage both and take advantage of the so many people out there without cause, that feel useless, easy prey.
I used to think education and money (better infrastructure, communication, etc.) would help, but it seems "they" prefer to have billions and live as "barbarians", taking the money and putting it into weapons. This is dangerous and pretty terrifying. So far, they are succeeding. Everywhere I read, more and more people are calling for Muslims to call out extremists, yet so far there is no visible effort, which leaves everyone lumping all muslims into the same category. This, of course, is part of the goal - us vs. them.
Don't know what the answer is besides more intelligence (and lack of privacy) to stop any Americans or others that could be convinced to do things inside our borders. I agree that more people that have any knowledge need to speak up (which is scary in its own right, but I can't think of a better solution).
Who knows, maybe this is all further propaganda to start another war, or reduce our privacy.
