"kill facebook - its bad for society"
-lessfloorFacebook is amazing for society. Facebook and Twitter provide an avenue for the oppressed to make their situations known to the world... from the protests in Iran and Egypt, to the Occupy movement, and countless of other conflicts and injustices. They allow for the most efficient way to plan gatherings, protests, and the spread of information; Information that's created by citizens, not the media.
I've never even had a Facebook account, yet I can see how important it is for many people.
Keep your accounts!

It puffs up my ego and ameliorates my status anxiety, while simultaneously doing the polar opposite.

I am ok with killing it, I'd cheer it on. Until there, its there when I am bored, good place for photography networking....and, well, its easier for it to be there than delete it.
and don't we all feel a little special? I have almost 2000 friends :-)

Will the internet ever mature where companies are just companies... or are we all too fickle and shit needs to cycle every 5 years? It's kind of fascinating... I'm sure a lot of human behaviour thesis papers have been written about it.
