I've had this happen.
'set' said it all....'bad start says it all'...couldn't have said it better than that.for me, it was a distant uncle that was in advertising at quite a big firm back in the 80's...
I was just about to start design school, (with a focus on getting into an ad agency etc) ...it was my dream...
anyhow, at my grandfathers funeral, we ended up chatting a lot, and he's all, hey...another artist in the family..awesome...look, when you get moved up to the big city, give us a call, we'll help you get going etc etc, show you the studio, have supper with us and the family blah blah blah... and boy...i ate it up...i thought i was in like flynn....my dad pulled me aside that night and tried to level with me 'look son, this guy....he's a big fucking talker....but i don't know him, you don't know him....don't fall for it....wait and see what kind of a guy he is...'
6 months later, i moved up to the big city (Toronto...we're from peterborough originally...small city about 2hours away)
call him that first week, and it's 'who are you?'...no i don't remember....here...talk to your aunt....
needless to say, i was NOT invited over for supper...or to see the studio...or to hangout....or to meet all his big advertising connections...
i have NEVER forgotten that...
twat....- goddamn, uncle asshole... thanks for sharing..mantrakid
- I could tell he was a cunt from the moment he called himself an artist.ORAZAL

this dude is definitely legit, but im assuming he's very very very very very busy... though i did anyway, i really dont need to do research on him as i was a fan of his 'company' for a while now.. sorry for being so vague, just dont want this thread coming back to bite me in the ass. :P

don't rush it, but keep on it. while he is away, make some plans on your next encounter with him once he replies back. Get back to him next week, you've already got his attention.
- omahadesigns0
He was the one who reached out to you.
You've done enough to get back to him and be available.
If he's interested, he'll get back in touch.
Don't be too weird.

This speaks volumes of your naivety. Of course you need to research him. Do you take everything at face value? You don't know this guy from shit and he's being flaky as hell. He contacts you, you try and set something up and then he contacts you again as if you never had any dialogue. Dude is phishing, blanket emailing anyone he can looking for a sucker.
Don't be the sucker he's looking for.

well guys, i can honestly say that with professionalism and patience what seemed like a dead end connection has been one of the biggest boosts to my promotional efforts for the game. There were a few times I wanted to just say fuck it and email the dude with a frustrated 'moving on' email, but i remained calm and understanding that i may not completely comprehend his schedule, etc. The end result of the patience has been largely a positive result, more than worth the frustration.
So i guess take this as a testimonial that even though communication may seem to be utter shit from the get go, there is always the possibility it is salvageable and can end up quite beneficial despite the rocky start.
- I honestly think if you get a good artist involved this game will be very successful or even more successful than you imagine.josimar
- as in, get it stylised (a unique one ideally!!!) and get a CONSISTENT look and decent typography, I've wanted to say this for ages!!! ...josimar
- ... it for ages. And as an example, and I'm not saying yours should look like this but dayyyyaam, Monument Valley!?josimar
- hey dude i appreciate the feedback - ive spent a lot of time on the art haha i think its the reason the game hasmantrakid
- received such a positive response so far.mantrakid
- Your first response in the thread seemed kinda bang on ;) >babaganush
- Let him go for now - or else he will think you are a serious stalker. Drop him a line in a month and say you're pressing on and is he still interested.babaganush
- Let him go for now - or else he will think you are a serious stalker. on and is he still interested.babaganush
- Fair enough. I just think you are missing a trick. Art is letting you down but kudos for your efforts.josimar
