Chicago hands down.

Hellavalot more agencies and jobs in NYC area -- in case you need to find a new job two months from now. Something to think about.
Cost of Living: You can always live in Brooklyn or Jersey and take the subway or train.
- 20020
New York is a walking city or take the crappy subway that actually takes you everywhere.
Constantly surprised by new things.
If you are worried about living cost, that will be adjusted based on your income. You make more in NY compared to Chicago.
Also, depends on what kind of life you want to lead. If you want that neighborhood that is similar to boston or little outside downtown chicago, no point moving to NY.
- exactly... doubtful the salary would be the same in chicagomonospaced

lake. effect.

If you were planning on coming to town for NYC infamous "Party Packs" (a prostitute and cocaine combo offered for the Super Bowl), you might be disappointed to know that a group of 18 persons responsible for offering these were recently busted and probably will not be offering their services in time for Super Bowl XLVII.

Is the lake effect really that bad in Chicago? Also, would you say you walk more in NYC or Chicago (near the loop)?
- have you ever experienced the lake effect or been near the great lakes? it's a real thing and i, for one, hate it.doesnotexist

What kind of a peasant raves about pizza as a good food?
NYC has crappy weather.
Plenty of FANTASTIC restaurants.
Plenty of work.
Lots of walking.
Lots of interactions with strangers (good and bad).
Lots of attractions.
Plenty of culture.
Lots of lost artistic souls making cool shit without much aim in life.Lived in NYC for 18 years.
- Chicago has worse weather.monospaced
- So only peasants can enjoy pizza? wtf?dopepope
- The same can be said of almost any major city...certainly chicagomarychain
- Chicago is lame compared to nyc. It's like it's a wannabe version.monospaced
- new york smells like piss and gabage and full of hipsters, douchebags and wannabeesmarychain

This winter in Chicago has been particularly FUCKING COLD. Worst winter in my 12 years here.

Get an opportunity in LA or SF instead?
- SigDesign0
I just realized that maybe Chicago's pizza is so much thicker because it's just that much colder... and that's why we have no signature pizza in the NW... there is no real weather

Just go for the $ and best opportunity... and move somewhere nice after you save a good amount of $
NY smells like piss and shit when it doesnt rain in the summer.
Cops look at you as $$ for their quotas... NY is a police state... old NY was fun.. NY now is a box with multiple choice and is an illusion of freedom. They are always putting new cameras all the time with a big police fusion center to collect data on everyone built in queens..
Most sane people or wealthy who say they live in NYC. only actually visit NY 1-6 months at time and most happy.
Most people are from somewhere else in nyc. you barely meet anyone who was born here. People are nice but I think other non big cities are nicer...
- You are full of so much nonsense.monospaced
- You own a car in NYC? then shat ap//// new cameras are coming in the subway..yurimon
- first... what the fuck are you talking about, and second, those cameras aren't really a new thingmonospaced
- Who cares where people were born?freedom
- How many people live in the same city their whole lives anyways?freedom

I guess the thing that really gets me is the rents and savings. For instance, in NYC 1600 gets you a small 1BR apartment in the upper east side or Astoria. In Chicago, you can get a beautiful 2BR brownstone. And even if you're making high-nineties it's seems like it's less profitable. But, there's tons more opportunity.
- Salary would be higher in NYC though. Salaries are adjusted for the cost of living differences.monospaced
- Why do they just give more money. Do companies make more money?freedom

Police are hunting for five men wanted for a brazen smash-and-grab heist at a Midtown jewelry store on Thursday.
Investigators say the men walked into the Cartier store at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street around 12:30 p.m.
Three of the men were carrying hammers, which they used to smash a glass case.
The NYPD says the men took off with 16 watches valued at about $700,000.

Chicago can be interesting.... you just have to look around, it rewards exploration. I lived here without a car for quite some time... The CTA Trains / busses are quite usable, especially if you're being entertained by the occasional person with chemically enhanced brain cells....
Yes, some deep dish pizza is bad, especaily the next moring if you eat too much of it!
Yes, you can live a handful of blocks away from hipster central for a reasonable rent. This gives you the freedom to not have to take soul crushing gigs, so you don't have to spend your time on earth advertising toilet paper in order to pay the huge rent...
There is interesting work here, but you have to look.... it's not quite like NYC where great stuff is all over...
If you have a place to crash and a pretty solid offer, NYC is great, I've known a few friends who moved to NYC then came back after a few years, due largely to being burned out by costs, smells and having to keep jobs that they didn't love to pay the rent....
