vinyl finds in a few charity shops and one bought in...
a record shop!
This took my eye, not listened to it yet but it was cheap as chips (small bag)
Not sure quite how many times I will sit ALL THE WAY through,
but I will try...
Sweet charity shop find and it's playable but is pretty scratchedA nice pair, fnarr fnarr, of belly dancing LP's from the 60's -
I just love the inner sleeve of this onethis pair of middle east related 7"s were in the same box
this bunch of albums were unsurprisingly in the same box but different shop
I bought this brilliant album new, I've had the CD since 1997
but it's such a personal fave it's lovely having it on vinyl

odds and ends that seem to have come into my possession in the past week or so
There were a whole bunch of 30's and 40's Jazz records
in a charity shop box but as most of it was before my time
(just) I dunno what's hot and what's not so plumped for a
couple of compilations and soundtracks including these 2 LP's.This kind of weird album and demo single stuff is just catnip
A real treat to find this re-issue of Ivor's debut album unplayed!I do have a tatty old copy of this somewhere but this one
is shiny nice and comes with the original poster, it features
so many great tracks all under 1 minute long from Residents,
and Andy Partridge to Robert WyattI picked this up for the Dracula Cha Cha track but never
even realized it was signed on the back until I got home.
A mid 70's pop tune by someone who's real name is
Stephen Jameson, I seem to remember the Two Ronnies
doing a similar joke on this name, it's probably as bad as this 7"Also hard on the ears is this tune from 1981 - I liked the sleeve
Odd Indie single I'd not heard or seen before.
I was most pleased finding this pair of original sheet music,
the bloke who sold me them at a car boot took my email and
said he had loads more so fingers x he gets in touch.

A midweek charity shop trawl has turned up some very odd
unexpected vinyl. I can only assume it's because most folks
are at work that these records were either still in the racks
or waiting by the counter (a smile and a bit of cheek can go
a long way with ladies of a certain age)A fresh batch of albums had "just been put out this morning"
at 49p a pop, how could I resist?I had no idea what this was but it was cheap and I liked the
sleeve so I took a punt, turns out to be a lovely Brazillian LPA box of records that had just been put out was full of
Bowie/Prince/Tangerine Dream albums along with a
shit load of picture discs......along with this Joy Division double album which I was
very surprised to find as it still had it's ribbon and outer sleeve,
there was a bit of water damage to the front of it but I was
hardly going to put it back now was I?!
- Gardener1
3 mysterious cases offered to me unopened at a garage sale,
I couldn't resist so took a £20 punt on them, with mixed results...Among an awful lot of rubbish I dug out a few gems
including these 3 decent compilations. The title of this turned out to be better than the Dutch band's music.
A nice early solo album by the great Bonzo's & Python's singer.
Along with dozen Slade & Elton John albums
was this nearly mint copy of just the one T.Rex album.I thought this selection of Stones albums might be the best
of the bunch until I turned up an album in a plain white card sleeve.A private pressing from '73 featuring various folk acts
I contacted my friend Wild Willy Barrett who features
un-credited on the last track on side 1 and he replied
"it was recorded at Turville Heath folk club run by Len Harman.
The club was held on a Dutch barn full of hay and straw bales
with milk churns full of hot water for heating."

Found some nice bits on a trip east to Peterborough yesterday
including some nice summery Jazz including Brubeck and
Quincy Jones, but I'm digging Sergio's groove today. It was fate really, I go to see the new Mission Impossible film
and then pop into a charity shop on the way home and bingo!
a Lalo Schifrin album I have not seen before, the track-listing
is intriguing too.
A pair of old folk albums by a singer who used to be on Harvest Records
In the same box was this signed album by 60's star PJ Proby,
his message on the front reads :
'Steve, I personally can't stand my voice, but if this album gives
you some pleasure I'm happy, keep it - all my best PJ Proby Jim'In a tip shop in Peterborough I came across this old acetate,
I gave it to a friend to sell as it's not my cuppa tea but is a rare
thing indeed.I met an old punk at the tip shop and we got chatting and he
told me he only lived around the corner and asked me if I wanted
to go and see some of his old records, which of course I had to do.
We were walking to his house when we started chatting about
this & that and he suddenly announced he had just come out
of prison. Oh aye, I said, what for? "Armed robbery" he replied,
haha I said with a slightly nervous laugh and decided there and
then not to delve deeper. He had a few boxes of really scratched
singles but a handful of albums and he wanted a fiver for these 2,
hey I wasn't gonna argue! He was a nice chap though, probably just took a wrong path...- I had no Idea ENO did a version of the wimoweh song!fooler2

this weekend's vinyl car booty
7" in a hand stamped sleeve from my dad's old shop,
he actually paid me in records to stamp sleeves in the 70's!I really love the way his name is in SUCH LARGE LETTERS
(as it should be really) it's a non-album track too
almost poppy version on the B side of a scarce 7"a very nice copy of the original UK EP
http://i144.photobucket.com/albu…
late 60's rocker, the band would soon feature
a pre-Sweet Andy Scott and his brother
this is the version I grew up with in the 70's
obscure country folk signed by the great man himself!
cheesecake alert, the LP is pretty rubbish but love that sleeve!excellent early 70's compilation of Buddah stuff,
check that tracklistingMilton Keynes proggers who once had the distinction
of playing Reading Festival, making the front cover of
top music rag Sounds which featured (if you look really hard)
on the sleeve of the debut Marillion albumit's signed inside by the violinist

A nice find just this morning in a charity shop where
the guy who runs it is really rude (not just to me but
to pretty much everybody) but he's actually a bit of sweetheart
having been homeless for years and has now been given a
animal charity shop with flat above to look after, even so he
still moans all the time. He let me have this 10" coloured vinyl
flexi-disc for 20p and then told me to fuck off! haha

some 7" bits & bobs I picked up recently
great one-sided, late 60's cleaning machine promo single.
I picked up another copy of this silver promo flexi yesterday,
my pretty rubbish old YouTube video has had 40,000+ views!
The oddest, unexpected things turn up in 50p boxes.the pick of the albums, I picked up a huge collection of Elvis
that turned up at the car boot but these were more interesting
OST from a TV show I wasn't familiar with but I liked the sleeve,
shades of Police Squad in the theme tune.
I wouldn't normally buy an ABBA album (honest)
but this one looked unusual.
This was probably the best find of the week, but alas
had no sleeve, if anyone has one to trade please pm me!A lavish (and a bit weird) picture disc album with huge booklet
inside the gate-fold and instead of Dalglish or Rush or Souness
for the LP cover I thought it was kinda cool that they chose
little Sammy Lee.- lol@central milton keynes
...more like 'i've never heard anything like it'Bluejam

the weekend car booty vinyl finds
I was pleased to finally pick up a copy of this album,
I've had others in this Co*Star series with actors that
were never going to be as good as one with Vincent
talking on it, and I was right!in the same carrier bag as the Vincent Price album
was this soundtrack, someone had good tasteA very odd Swedish compilation album that despite
a half hearted search online turned up with nothing
on P.I.E. 3722 Airways but it does have a cover of
Typically Tropical's 'Barbados'a small selection of cheap cheese, some signed
a great old Breakbeat 12" - dig it
3 great Scott Walker albums at one car boot was a bit
of a result, the 2 below were sealed and new copies from
the guy who turns up at the car boot with boxes of vinyl
at £10 a go, I didn't have 2 + 3 so how could I say no?I also picked up the 2 x 45rpm re-master of this beauty
there were not many 7"s but this flexi-disc was a sweet find,
complete with speed changing disc on the rear like a low budget
Led Zeppelin III sleeve- Scott Walker. nice.scruffics
- Hah, would love to hear that Vincent Price.kingsteven

A friend who runs a bookshop got in touch to say
he had this unusual find for me earlier today.
Well aware of my debilitating condition Flexdiscia,
he kindly let me have it for nowt. Featuring excerpts
from the 1970 stage production of the musical Catch My Soul
and introduced by PJ Proby it has great photos inside the A4
sized booklet - with fantastic graphics on the rear of the sleeve.

- dude! let me know if you want to shift any. some fantastic records in here.kingsteven

I only went to one car boot this morning but it was
a local village garage sale that came up trumps with
a big haul of rock albums at £2 a pop including Sabbath,
Yes, Floyd etc, to find all the Led Zeppelin back catalogue
in one box was a first for me.
They were not the best finds of the glorious sunny day
but I was glad I dragged myself up and out at 6am.All in lovely condition and an In Through The Out Door
I didn't have which makes it 3 down 3 to go.
Swansong released the LP in 6 different sleeves -
you got it in a paper bag so never knew which one would be in it.There were several Who albums too,
the smartest of the bunch was this UK first pressing with booklet. The sweetest of £1 garage sale finds (the guy literally
went into his garage and pulled out a pile of LP's from
a cupboard) was this beautiful UK original of their debut
from '65, it's a keeper! The same pile had this boxed album sitting on the bottom,
it even came with the original drumsticks,
"I bought it for my son in the 60's but he never used it"Back of the box lists a mind-boggling amount of other releases on the same label
Early 60's TV space show theme, I wasn't too fussed
it didn't have the original picture sleeve

I won a box of albums at an auction recently and flicking
through the ones I fancied I came across a couple of nice
inner sleeves which took my eye. It prompted me to dig into
my racks to see what other pretty inners I could find and here
are some I'd like to share.UK mid 70's advertising - this one was in a hits compilation
Pye mid 60's + poly-linedPye early 60's with LP's on one side EP's on the flip
Mid 70's vinyl cleaning products available at Wollies -
a bit tatty but a keeper
This houses my Dynaflex (a kind of bendy vinyl) US copy of Ziggy Stardust
UK poly-lined inner fforr Ffrr Records
UK mid 60's folk/blues/jazz imprint Transatlantic RecordsBeautiful UK poly-lined inner came with my copy of White Light White Heat
French poly-lined for RCA Records
Ciggie advertising from an Indian albumLovely late 50's/early 60's US inner for Liberty Records
This is probably my favourite inner - US London/Deram from the late 60's
- keep your eye on pye!hans_glib
- i'm curious - do you buy these records to listen to, or because they are interesting objects?hans_glib
- both, I do a weekly radio show too
http://www.gardenofe…Gardener - interesting, so they always need to be of playable quality?hans_glib
- usually, I am a collector most of all, though I am working on a book on them tooGardener

I've had to get up early to find things in early July, well one morning and an afternoon.
Lovely harmonious Scottish Xian Folk -
try and guess which one is the housewife.
Piccolo, spoon's and jew's harp heavy Irish FolkThis was a curious find, I noticed it was produced in 1974
by John Cale so it was easily worth 50p, that fiddler on the
back actually is John Cale but I found out he doesn't play on
the album itself. They sound like they have a bit of a Kate Bush
thing going on or maybe Kate was inspired by Chunky, Novi & Ernie?I picked up a copy of this 30's musicals soundtrack yesterday with it's fantastic open-out sleeve.
Such a great amount of detail and info which a CD issue would never be able to compete with.
The inner sleeve features the beautiful PVC clad Gold-diggers of 1933
I was happy to pay £2 a pop for the set of these original UK comps from 1963I had this great charity shop find yesterday after
I went river swimming for the afternoon in Olney.

A few vinyl finds in the last week or so,
there were more but these are actually the highlights!Perhaps only a tip shop could turn up an oddity like the
record below, I first noticed that she was quite uncomfortably
squeezed into her dress and then pondered when the B.A.R.
decided to change their name.A couple of nice charity shop finds this week in the same
box were this Stones LP which I didn't realise was a picture
disc (despite the sleeve saying so) until I checked the records
conditionsitting pretty next to this wee beauty in a pound box!?!
The car boots turned up a few treats including a near
mint copy of this LP I'd not come across beforeand a lovely German box set
The only 7"s I picked up were a couple of flexi-discs and these 2 from '72
- twentyfive1
Found this 4 days after my girlfriend broke up with me and I refused to talk to her...
- Gardener1
Doing the rounds over the weekend I found that village
car boots can turn up all sorts of unexpected goodiesincluding a fantastic score from one box alone,
full of old Indian recordsMy guess is that a relative had died as the 2 ladies
getting rid of these just wanted shot of the lot for £20The midweek lunchtime boot (when all the young, slim and
beautiful people are probably still at work) turned up some
nice things.
I'd never seen or heard of this before and in lovely condition too.
Not come across this 12" before either, but records
by local Northampton bands do turn up from time to time.A nice old 78 and some curious 45's cropped up
Shame it didn't have it's original picture sleeve
but I could hardly leave this now could I?A couple of Christian sevens, love those titles!
I've many sports related records but this Rugby League EP was a fresh discovery
In the same box was this IN YOUR FACE ROY CASTLE!
reading stories on one side with his Christian mates doing
likewise on the flip.- Always enjoy looking through these.
Lol at Kenneth Williams reading from the Scripture Union. When worlds collide!face_melter
- Always enjoy looking through these.

Various vinyl finds in the past 7 days - I picked up a collection
of "Gilles Peterson type stuff" after some chap phoned me up.
I have volume 1 and this is the other one, I don't think there's a third.I guess the bestest bits were a pair of Moodymann releases,
one twelve one + double album.
I'd not come across this US 7" before, it's nearly 20 years old!
I have the CD single of this somewhere, but this was a lovely
12" copy of one of the most beautiful versions of this tune.
soooo mysterious... and quite frankly after a while soooo
annoying! An early Bert album alas without it's original sleeve but still
worth 50p to me, also in the same box another cheap treat.A good addition to my flexi-discs collection as the copy I already
have of this doesn't have this card backing, which to be honest
it's pretty useless without.I have cherry picked the stuff I have actually heard of or ones
I didn't already have but have put 3 boxes of D&B and House
12"s in the shed.- dark days soundtrack! does it have vocals from the movie or is it all just shadow tracks? I haev automn leaves too - lovely track.microkorg
