my iPhone 4s doesn't ring anymore and doesn't make any clicking sounds when typing.
every google result I go into ends up with some moron suggesting I check the vibrate mode rocker on the side of the phone. Fuck you.
Has anyone else run into this issue? I've tried restoring, plugging in my headphones and pulling them out while music was still playing, turning off bluetooth.

This would never happen on any other phone than a piece of shit plastic shiny toy like Apple makes.

I had some issues with sound but not that drastic, occasionally when a new notification came in, the sound would go down roughly by half (which is normal) but then it wouldn't go back up again. Only with a new notification. Had to store a timer of 1s in Due just to restore my sound to normal again..
But your problem looks worse. Go to a Apple/repair store.

my "refurbished" 4 that a bought and arrived at my door with a shattered screen and it did that, audio in the headphones worked, but not the speakers, when I replaced the screen myself it went away, so in my case it could have been a just loose connection.
- those connections surprisingly are very easy to pop off btwmoldero

My 4 has been like this for a good while.
Audio works when headphones are plugged in.
Back when it first started to happen I read that it might have something to do with the headphone jack – a short of sorts – that makes the phone act as if headphones are always plugged in. I keep my phone on silent anyway so I never really looked into it much more. I think there were supposed to be ways to clean it, though. Could be worth looking into.

my 4 has been acting up since installing iOS 7 — not sending txts, not loading txts i've had stored for awhile.
resetting fixed it, or force closing & reopening apps.

Both of those sounds can be turned on and adjusted in the "Settings."

All I can say is that my iphone 4 stopped being able to use the speakerphone after about a year so I dumped it for $150 and got the iphone 5 which also stopped working as soon as I crossed east of the mississippi but they actually gave me a full replacement and it seems great now. I would recommend you just get a new phone and get out of the iphone 4 if you have time.

potentially dumb question but have you definitely checked the switch on the right hand side? I solved my gf's same problem by switching it after 6 months XD

O M G I finally found a solution. It's not a total fix because the vibrate switch on the side no longer works. But at least the audio is back.
In case anyone else runs into this ...Re: iphone not ringing just vibrating
