In addition, the two women received $40,000 last month from the city to replace their truck, which they reportedly spent on a loaded Ram pickup. At first the city wanted to give them a new truck, but then they would have had to pay taxes on it as if it were a game show prize.

Jonas said his starting point for the negotiations was $15 million or $16 million, but said the agreement insured that the women received a timely payment and avoided potential risks of going to trial."I have a 71-year-old client. You think she wants to risk the appellate court reversing it for one reason or another?" Jonas said. "$4.2 million means a lot more to her today than potentially $7 million 10 years down the road."
Trutanich called the agreement a "no brainer because the costs were going to skyrocket."
"We got out of this thing pretty cheaply all things considered," he said.

^ Sometimes I wonder how they arrive at the decimal for each million. "Lets say two mil per woman, and then tack on a little extra for the damage to their vehicle and other stuff. Oh yeah and the lawyer fees."

so they said on the news that his mom was at a party dancing and drinking during the standoff. Seems a little strange.
- nevermind...not dancing, but at a bar drinking.

WAIT A FUCKING SECOND.
Quote from LA Times on Feb 12:
"After authorities interviewed the boat captain early Thursday, they found Dorner's wallet and identification cards "at the San Ysidro Point of Entry" near the U.S.-Mexico border, according to the court records."
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/…
Then this:
"The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office said charred human remains were found in the rubble where Christopher Dorner is said to have been cornered Tuesday. "We have reason to believe that it is him," sheriff's spokeswoman Cynthia Bachman said.
A wallet with a California driver's license bearing the name Christopher Dorner also was found, the Associated Press reported, citing a law enforcement official who was briefed on the investigation but declined to be named because of the ongoing probe."

They found his wallet and ID? And they found it on the 7th? Then what was on his burnt body then?
- Had multiple ids and planted some as decoys.jacklalane
- uh-huh. I see. Do go on.TheBlueOne
- there are holes in this entire extravaganzadbloc
- Why is it so hard to believe that multiple ID's were found for whatever reason?jacklalane
- Because it's extremely unlikely he would have a decoy wallet/IDmonospaced

The question of proof is difficult though I reckon.
Would a video prove anything? If you believe there are people or others out there capable of staging mass news events like this, then why trust a video?
It would not be hard to fake a grainy black and white CCTV video with all the modern tools out there. The involvement of actors raises the possibility they could put on a real production.
Think of it another way...if the events were staged, wouldn't you expect the people staging them to produce a video? It's the easiest way to brainwash people into believing the event happened.
So no video...does it mean the event was not staged?
Then again maybe they are just fucking with you by not creating a fake video, because it's exactly what you expected them to do.

I am sure there are people asking for more proof than the cops word. Almost feels like these cops think they're Judge Dredd. It has me wondering what the effect will have. Did the cops do this as a sign to not ever mess with them? This also all started in Irvine, safest city in America, which is all owned by the Irvine company. Any videos they have, they may not want being seen and tarnish their image.(lol kinda of stretching there)

playing Devil's advocate here.
In Italy when they catch a mafia kingpin or some criminal who tries to rob a bank and get caught, you'll often get cctv feed showing the accused doing the deed,"Hey, you know the guy we're accusing of running over a couple and driving away, here's a video of his car with him driving 100 meter down the road, you can see the bumpers is fucked up and look at his face, it's him" now the justice dep will take care of the rest but we showed you the cctv feed..
How come you never ask for a simple video feed of dorner, holmes, lanza, etc at least entering or exiting one of the places where they are accused of having committed a crime, you can't tell me there's only 3 non descriptive video frames of dorner and facebook pictures.
it is really like they want people to come up with the most absurd "conspiracy theories" when they could just show 15sec of CCTV feed and quail all theories.
so for now I believe it's better to use the term "alleged cop killer"

I just watched Django Unchained and I'm pretty sure he watched that too before going crazy.

This story is really about the need for a righteous force to come in and kill all the people we don't like.
I'm all for it because I get to live vicariously through it.

His accusations were ridiculous. Really, so he kills a bunch of people because he wasnt happy about being fired and some of the things he saw? I sure as shit hope he burned alive, painfully, rather than shot himself which is too quick for the scum he was.
- I'm not supporting his actions, but there's no way you can say his accusations were ridiculous with certaintymonospaced
- The LAPD wants you to think he was lying, but if you've met LAPD you know he probably isn'tmonospaced
- Not ridiculous, what I mean is whatever they were, they dont justify what he did.CygnusZero4
- Then we agree. His actions were ridiculous, but his accusations were probably spot-on.monospaced
- Did you not read his manifesto and accusations?monospaced
- yeah dude read his manifesto, there are videos on youtube showing those cops beating people up all over the placeMiguex
- the whole story is SUPER sketchy, reports contradicting themselves, police wanting to shut him up at all costMiguex
- Yes I did. To be honest with you a lot of it sounded like shit he could have just let go.CygnusZero4
- Oooohhhh a coworker kicked someone they were arresting. He was THAT hung up on that???CygnusZero4
- A lot of this is shit a lot of people deal with, many people deal with worse...CygnusZero4
- So you're criticising him for wanting to be a honest cop and not abuse suspects?ETM
- You're unable to separate his early motivations from his recent and obvious mental illness?ETM
- He wasn't hung up that they kicked someone. He's hung up that he was fired for reporting it.monospaced
- That the racism and corruption not only allows it but encourages it and then punishes anyone who isn't supporting itmonospaced
- supporting the hate. The guy was probably super nice and expected more from his coworkers.monospaced
- <yupmoldero
- no dude, read the manifest please, I think you read something elseMiguex
- I know what I read.monospaced
- I enjoy reading the crap cygnus posts.cotton

What's worse is that now that he's dead, and now known as a cop-killer, no further efforts can or will be made to look into his accusations.
