I'm working on a logo for a company that works in the learning industry (elearning, instructor-led, etc...) that needs to look somewhat serious, but with a bit of quirk in it.
I've got two sketches I'm working on the first is a mix between a "C" and the brain hemispheres and the second is a "C" and lightbulb. What are you thoughts any potential in them, should I move forward or start over.

I'm working on a very similar logo project. (not the same field but involving a 'C' and brain / intelligence / thought / knowledge)
I think your bulb version is more appealing than the brain, but the bulb shape on it's side to get the C isn't screaming light bulb or learning. It's an interesting looking C tho.
It's tough going after lightbulb or brain solutions because they have been done to death. If you ain't feelin' it, branch out and try something else.
Good luck. I feel ur pain.

For me, the bulb concept is too much about the visual representation of the light bulb. I find there is too much effort in order to resolve it as a letter "C".
Your brain concepts may have more going for it. I like the 1st "C" brain concept. I prefer it because it makes reference to the brain and reads more abstractly. It doesn't over do it, but rather hints at the reference point.

Why a C? Is that in the name?

The point of interest / filament variations are the best in my opinion, though the stroke width leaves them appearing more like an icon and less like a logo.
Massimo Vignelli was recently quoted having said that there are too many logo marks and that designers should focus more on type treatments.
This may be good advice in light of your frustration while attempting to incorporate the C into your concept.

The first one looks like an illustrated booty.

A looks off center. B looks wider than it is tall.

I've killed this idea and started sketching again. Thanks for all the feedback

The 'Link 2' above is some way there ... but looks a bit more like an electricity company.

I would suggest finding a reason to break the symmetry in the logo.

The second one is more interesting/less suggestive of body parts.

Like option 2 also with blue dot. Looks like a computer power button + light bulb and I do see a C. Nice.
