This is a pretty small gesture. CS2 is four versions old, about 8 years old and incompatible with more than 99% of the documents you'll be seeing. I wonder if current computers can even run software that old. I'm not sure if CS2 was developed for Intel based computers.
good stuff - beats using gimp anyways :]
I have CS2 and it only stopped working when I upgraded to Lion, but it is most definitely made to work on an Intel Mac.
It lets people create photoshop files what's not to like. A nice gesture indeed.
perfect for all our uncles and cousins asking for Photo Shop...
It's good to see them moving in this direction. But let's be honest, no one's going to download CS2 when they can pirate CS6 easily.
No one's going to download it because they don't even sell older versions.
Now I just have to get a free computer that will run it.

too little too late!
"On behalf of Adobe Systems Incorporated ... You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!"
errrr??? Though it sounds like they ARE giving it away for free but you should only get it if you have a valid licence. Christ Adobe couldn't you just throw your horrible corporate culture out of the window for five minutes?
"You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!
What is true is that Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2 and that for existing licensed users of CS2 who need to reinstall their software, copies of CS2 that don’t require activation but do require valid serial numbers are available."
well i downloaded the PS onto my crappy old dell "un"inspiron 6000 and it works fine. perfect for my old man.
and it's good for clients as well...
Well that's a shame, :( I thought it was a really magnanimous gesture by Adobe :( I thought wrong I guess.
It did seem a little too good to be true :(
