oh yea, and you have to make reservations to hike the inka trail. yup. only 500 people per day allowed on it. it gets booked quick! first time i went i had no idea so i wasn't able to do the long hike. rules aren't the same in south america. you have to do it months in advance, passport in hand. research!

Peru is fantastic. you will love it. be careful not to get wrapped up with a cheesy tour guide of some sort. if you do choose some kind of tour, which most of the times you need for treks and stuff, do some research. this forum really helped me, tons of Q&A's. a good place to get some guidance.

Planning to go to Peru in the spring again (planned before :) ) I've been to Latin America quiet a few times, but never made it down to Peru.
I am looking for a jungle treck for at least 5 days preferably off the tourist trail ending at Machu Picchu.
Any tips, recommendation, leads or warnings are highly appreciated.
