Anyone pay over $200?
- I'm at $165 a month for a $5000 deductiblefooler
- I pay $335. I used to pay $585 a month before MA instituted RomneyCareJosev
- for individual coverage? Thats more that what I pay for my son and I together.fooler
- Yes, for individual coverage. I'm probably older than you. Unfortunately even though I'm in excellent shape the health insurance industry sees me as more of a risk at 47.Josev

Fuck insurance.
How can insurance companies make money if the total they get in premiums doesn't exceed the amount they pay out ?
It's no different to a casino - you gamble that you'll need the expensive services, ie get ill, they're gambling that you won't. The money they charge is weighted so that they'll 'win' at the end of the year.
It's the most evil monumental scam. Put your money aside each month into a fund. You should be fine. If you're not, and have massively expensive costs, like cancer or a huge car accident, then you're going to be bankrupt anyway. Declare yourself, and move on. Refuse to be part of the problem of skyrocketing insurance and medical costs.- welcome to earthdigdre
- Exactly.mikotondria3
- wow, your understanding of the insurance business is next to zeromonospaced
- if you need 1/2 million in healthcare from an injury, they can cover that using other people's premiumsmonospaced
- no way you could cover a week stay in a hospital with surgery, ever, no matter what, through savingsmonospaced
- Soshulizm !! Covering your bills from other people's premiumz !!
And taking a profit.mikotondria3 - If you have a week in hospital, that's about $20k, which is about 3 years of premiums. Most people will not need it.mikotondria3
- exactly, that's why it's called "insurance" dudersmonospaced
- It's ok, I know how it works, it just makes me mad that they cream off a profit between people and their healthcare.mikotondria3
- and at the same time they allow people to pay for care that they normally woudln't be able to affordmonospaced
- True of course. I just prefer the European model of universal coverage. I think it's unethical to profit from paying for healthcare.mikotondria3
- not profit from healthcare itself, just the paying for it..mikotondria3
- how the hell do you think the Euro model works!?!? Hahahahamonospaced
- someone's profiting, that's all I meanmonospaced

mine just went up to $300 for a decent PPO in Chicago (no prescriptions). it started at $250 (with prescriptions) about two years ago.
- How much med care could you have bought with all those premiums ? All of it, and more.mikotondria3

My ex had "caddilac insurance" .... and it got her some VERY expensive care, but I don't really think it helped, as it seemed the health-industrial complex was just using her as a cash cow... she kept getting more and more expensive treatments, but nothing really made it all better.... it seemed in the end she was sick because... she was married to me(!) ... when we got divorced, she was suddenly more healthy.....

You americans have a health care system like uganda in the 1950's

My wife works for a Health Foundation and has a "Cadillac Plan". It covers everything, massage, chiropractic, Chinese herbs, acupuncture, therapy, major medical... everything except spouses and dependents. For me to get on her plan we would have to pay out of pocket and it was going to be nearly $500/month. I just got the cheapest individual plan I could find since I really don't need to use any of that stuff.
