I'm gonna quit dating all together. I've been on so many dates that go really well, never to see the girl again. And I don't overly text them afterwards or anything. Dates where I meet their friends and they all think I'm awesome, and I crash at their place at the end of the night, and don't have sex because I respect them.
- "and don't have sex because I respect them." That's you're problem right there. Realize they want it just as bad as you.IRNlun6

- Sometimes chicks just want sex too. But don't expect a call back after that either.formed

Drinks or coffee. I like drinks, you can stay longer if things go well, go to another place, grab a quick appetizer.
No dinner on first dates, too much pressure (not to mention you'd spend a fortune, after wine, etc.)

- Lol @ too much pressure. Head case.CygnusZero4

^ To answer mekk as to why we did online dating: (sorry for the bump, way too long to answer on the side)
My wife simply had just recently moved here from New Zealand and didn't know anyone here.
As for me, I had a bad break up with someone that really deceived me a few years prior. In the time that followed I had a somewhat self imposed exile from socializing. I divided my personal time between my dog, wrenching on my motorcycles and racing (which keeps me out of the city most weekends during the on season anyway).
I wasn't really looking to date anyone when I signed up for OKC. I was looking to meet interesting people and get myself out of the garage and back into society before I turned into a grease covered hobbit. (I should note I wasn't a complete shut in and worked in an office with co-workers) Having never tried it before, it seemed like a good way to vet people. You need to be able to read between the lines on someone's profile and sort through the BS. Its not always what someone says but how they say it that paints a picture of who they are.

^ I hear you, absolutely! I had a rough breakup not so long ago that made me move a bit away and be by myself. Started cycling more and caring less for work. I'm down to earth again and met a good girl last november. :)
- Sweet! Sometimes you just need a break and hit the reset button. Everything happens in it's own time.GM278

Girls tell me how they use this site to get free food when they're low on cash. They have some clever name for using dating sites to find guys just to buy them dinner. Something like the cupid diet. Apparently they can save several thousand a year doing this.
- Is it common in the US for the guy to pay for everything?qTime
- yes qTime, it is, unless you want to be known as a cheapskate scumbagmonospaced
- i even pay for female friends that i'm not dating, but i'm a sucker like thatscarabin
- why?newuser
- I do the same. It's a form of chivalry, I guess.monospaced
- that's why i don't do dinners for the first few dates. It is way too expensive. A few drinks is my limit on the first date.capn_ron
- dating for free food? hoorsebertzjaw
- 'cause it's a cheap way to make me feel like a manscarabin

Every woman that I met on OkCupid was a train wreck. Their profile photos were 5-10 years old, they lied about their age, and just about everything else listed in their profile. And besides that, OkCupid places a lot of fake profiles to lure unsuspecting and or naive men into their site. More than likely the same thing happens on all of these online dating websites.
I would have to admit, it was fun for the first few weeks...
- First girl I met up with looked at me and said "I fucking hate dogs" I walked straight out of the bar. I mean WTF I have a dog, why write me?GM278
- dog...why write me you idiot?GM278
- I met a girl on match.com had to file a restraining order.utopian

Online dating is no different than any other dating, not sure where this "look like you don't need online dating" crap comes from. There are plenty, just as many in the 'real' world', beautiful people online - it's the same people! Just a cross section of society, nothing more, nothing less.
Utopian - not sure who you are meeting...I've only met one woman that didn't look like her photo (actually, she just didn't smile in her photos...for a good reason), everyone else looked just like their photos. No one has lied about their age, weight, etc.
You do have to look at 'creative angles' or 'lack of photos'...but that's another discussion.Nice to a see a happy QBN couple!

I would really only rely on these sites as a last resort, if youre extremely desperate and lonely. The issue is not exactly a lot of normal and attractive girls need to use a dating site. Every guy they meet everyday wants to be with them, you all know that. Just the nature of things. Girls do not have trouble meeting men anywhere they go.
Its usually the really overweight, unattractive and fucked up ones that cant even find a guy out in the real world so theyre on these sites and you know something must be up with them. There's always exceptions to the rule but they are pretty rare, and if you complain about a bad experience on one of those sites, or the girl didnt look like her pix or has some other issue going on you look kind of ridiculous.
Try to meet girls through friends you have. People that you know that know them. Express interest. Girls respond to it sometimes. Or go out and actually be like charming and funny with a random girl. Small talk, nothing creepy. Always the best way.
- I think this is bollocks. Plenty of cool, attractive people use dating sites these days.orrinward2
- Perhaps your profile just attracts the bottom-of-the-barrel crazies.orrinward2

A girl I met on Okcupid suggested this restaurant she happened to see while walking to work one day and that she thought looked very "chilled" inside (it was summer). Turns out it was is mega expensive french place on 42 street when I looked it up. I felt like saying I had a cold and had to cancel the date, but I decided to give her a chance. Huge mistake. The girl was nothing like her pictures and I ended up paying $120 for 3 scoops of sorbet.
- fawk!BattleAxe
- Fuck that. I wouldn't have paid. Unless she was really hot and rubbing my crotch with her foot under the table.Frosty_spl
- She suggested it and didn't offer to split the bill?newuser
- drinks ONLY for first meetings... JUST in case. :)dconstrukt
- why would u go to a restaurant on 1st date?Milan
- I agree - drinks only on the first date. You can have a round and if it sucks, bail.GM278

so umm... how much for a girl?

I dated an awesome chick i met there.
Out of the grubby pit of internet dating, OKC seems to be the best.
- fredddddd0
Are you guys getting laid?
It sounds like all your experiences are just buying girls drinks. Cool or wacko, that's just hanging out.
- formed0
It is all the same, each site is just a sliver and cross section of society. There isn't a "better" site, it is all just luck.
Hot chicks get every guys email and usually just delete 90% because they have no time to sift through hundreds.
You just have to keep sending emails, assume that 99% of what you send won't get read.
Anyone that says "Never drinks" is a fake profile. For some reason, the fake ones seem to always put that. Oh, and they are "God fearing"....even if it wasn't a fake profile, those'd be reasons to avoid anyway!

I've been seeing someone from OKC for about 2 months now. She's fucking mental, but I kind of like that. She's an artist/school teacher and has a kid, but that's no big deal. And she's hot! I guess people join sites like that because they don't get the time to go out meeting new people, or can't be arsed stood in a stupid club talking nonsense to some 17 year old who's full of shit.
I've dated a few, but can't say any have been horrendous. People are generally decent. You can spot the ones who aren't. It'll become more natural eventually and everyone will be doing it, unless we all commit suicide from misunderstood loneliness!
