"Small improvements that work"? Apple became what it is not from small improvements, but from awesome innovations and second-to-none design. Remember how everyone's mind was blown with the first iPhone? Those are the things that win people over, not minor improvements. They can't pacify consumers much longer if all they're doing is little improvements. People will start drifting away.

christ, you'd think apple had split the atom.

Truth: we bitch, record sales will be coming... and none of us (whining here) will ever accomplish this level of impact with our design.
It's funny to listen to people talk about Apple going down... Apple is doing the same thing as always. Small improvements that work. The simple fact that they [usually] work really well is what still escapes other mobile phone makers...

it is a bump, but a pretty bump.

I don't understand why they haven't updated their UI...it's tired. And any new design I've seen coming out seems to be going in the wrong direction. Mystifying.

yeah but we're talking about a friggin' tricorder from star trek that does everything already.
what were you guys hoping for? what could you possibly add to it?
of course it's just gonna be small updates.
the new cord is kind of annoying though, since my macbook doesn't have a lightning port.

Are any of you cats seeing the fragmented text on http://www.apple.com/ ?!

You have to think outside the box to know what they can improve, and obviously they know all that, but it costs a hell of a lot of money, so if releasing products with very small improvements keep selling, well they can really stretch this out and not blow their whole load on 1 new iphone.
There are all kinds of things that could be implements. Remote access to your mac at home is one thing I keep thinking about that would be awesome. I was at work last week and there was a file on my home network I needed that I had to have my girlfriend email to me.
Sony has remote access to the PS3 from their handheld game systems. Why cant I do this with my iphone? To me that is a very cool upgrade that is worth buying a new iphone for because I would actually use it. There are tons of things, you can think about all kinds of shit the iphone doesnt do but potentially could all day long.

Stop whining and go back to Microsoft!
LEAVE APPLE ALONE!

How would you improve upon the iPhone 4S? I'd like to hear ideas. NFC might be great on paper but it's useless until everyone gets hardware implemented so you can use it.
At this point what they could do is a major software change on the operating system, but only if it improves the whole thing.

I dont get the whole decline thing. Im pretty sure they way they are doing things is exactly as theyve been for years. Create a great product, then create a bunch of cash in sequels with minor improvements. Pretty standard issue when Steve was there. This just seems to me like a continuation of that.
These things sell like crazy. What motivation do they really have to innovate when they are selling anyway with all the apple fanboys hanging from their nuts all day?
As soon as sales start to slump is when they will be motivated to do something truly new.

The decline of Apple starts today.
Everything looks inconsistent and disjointed from product to product. The attention to detail in their design is fading.
