Seems like if you can write and article these days, check websites for updates, critique, and read mashable, you're a qualified expert.
So annoying.

Is there such a person to begin with?

are you an expert to say others are not experts?
- effour0
yes, perhaps I am, but grade 11 english, mashed with a couple keywords into a legible paragraph under 148 characters = expert copywriter/social media expert/SEO qualified/douche

tad bit judgmental no?
its more of a client's fault right?
they only follow buzz word hype yes?

I talk with clients pretty often about SEO, but I don't really ever consider positioning myself as an expert. I feel like I'm more of a facilitator of making the overwhelming amount of SEO information that's out there easier to understand. Even better, the things I talk to clients about with regard to SEO are all things they should be doing anyways to improve and promote their content - each of which happens to potentially have positive affect on ranking:
>Good title tags
>Content length
>Content keywords
>Use of heading tags
>Writing blogs and creating niche topic sites
>Sharing content on social networks
>Discontinuing use of meta-keyords as a means of affecting rankingWe pretty much work exclusively with law firms, many of which are notorious for lengthy, ineffective content.
But in the end, I'm not presenting anything radically new or ground-breaking. I'm just trying to help people make sense of what to do that actually matters.

the seo experts who can't get themselves on the first page of google.
that's why the whole industry is bullshit.

That's like the 'social media' rockstar that has only 1500 followers on facebook. At least have the decency to buy followers from shangai so when people go to your site we can see you have 28k followers.
None of your posts ever get likes, because no one really is paying your followers to like what you have to say, but that's another story

The whole social media expert (Facebook/Twitter) and SEO profession really needs a shakeup, it's definitely a waste of money in my opinion, if all your social media efforts generate no sales, and your SEO rank is stagnent, what is the point? Wow Facebook says your social reach is 2000 people, but WTF does that even mean? You can download every measuring tool on the web, but if it doesn't eq a positive ROI, it's just filler.

Wow - QBN is on fire right now. Social Media Experts, SEO, Google Analytics, ...
Next thing you know we will be talking Google Webmaster Tools. Because the ass hats they get to manage and market the things we build have about as much sense as executives talking about the finer points in the debate over native versus web.
