One of the great crime stories of the past 20 years, meanwhile, is the dramatic decline of rape and sexual assault. Between 1993 and 2008, the rate of those crimes against females dropped by 70 percent nationally. When women were financially dependent on men, leaving an abusive situation was much harder for them. But now women who in earlier eras might have stayed in such relationships can leave or, more often, kick men out of the house. Women, argues Mike Males, a criminologist at the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice, “have achieved a great deal more power. And that makes them a lot harder to victimize.”

Thanks projectile for initiating this thread,
here is another good read on abuse from both sexes.http://winteryknight.wordpress.c…
"...Women are more likely than men to stalk, attack and psychologically abuse their partners, according to a University of Florida study that finds college women have a new view of the dating scene.“We’re seeing women in relationships acting differently nowadays than we have in the past,” said Angela Gover, a UF criminologist who led the research. “The nature of criminality has been changing for females, and this change is reflected in intimate relationships as well.”
In a survey of 2,500 students at UF and the University of South Carolina between August and December 2005, more than a quarter (29 percent) reported physically assaulting their dates and 22 percent reported being the victims of attacks during the past year. Thirty-two percent of women reported being the perpetrators of this violence, compared with 24 percent of men. The students took selected liberal arts and sciences courses. Forty percent were men and 60 percent were women, reflecting the gender composition of these classes.
In a separate survey of 1,490 UF students, one quarter (25 percent) said they had been stalked during the past year and 7 percent reported engaging in stalking, of whom a majority (58 percent) were female."
- and don't even get me started on the divorce and kids issue,
GeorgesII - Sure a lot of men will readily admit on a survey to stalking women.aaux
- RTFLGeorgesII
- I did, still think you can't base any kind actual theory on a survey of college students.aaux
- And that article has some pretty vague conclusions and assumptions.aaux
- I guess assuming all men are liers is conforting but there are tons of research out, i'm sick of doing your homeworkGeorgesII
- women do abuse men,GeorgesII
- No idea where you got the all men are liars idea from. Did you actually read that link?aaux
- and don't even get me started on the divorce and kids issue,

one fucked up thing about the states is the whole sexual predator thing and how they let them out after a few years, I think once you cross that line of raping women and kids I think there's no turning back, if your going to eventually let these sick fucks out of prison, there should be some kind of measure taken to make sure they never do it again, like castration.
- no turning back? that's kinda harshmonospaced
- no half measuresalbums
- so a prison sentence is a half measure?monospaced
- it was directed to molderos sentiment and a breaking bad referencealbums
- ie not for you monoalbums

Do you guys think a man can be raped by a woman? I had this discussion awhile back with a group of men and women. It was hilarious.

For George:
Here are the dubious claims in that article I was referring to:
"I think in general, women are more violent when there is no man present, because they have more difficulty restraining their emotions and resolving disagreements with rational arguments instead of fist, feet and weapons."
Nothing at all to back that up, purely an opinion.
"And we haven’t even talked about verbal abuse. I would imagine that women have a huge edge in that department."
Ditto
"Biological fathers are programmed to protect children – it’s the stepfathers and live-in boyfriends who harm children."
Just a random claim with no facts.
"Fathers restrain the emotions of their wives and daughters – they act as a stabilizing influence."
Ugh.
You can't post that kind of stuff and expect it to be taken seriously.
- BTW, that site is a load of bollocks from end to end.aaux

When she says stop, how long do men have to pull out before the rape timer starts? Like a half second? A tenth? A yoctosecond?
- GeorgesII0
because I don't want to receive another 4000 mails (wink wink I_was)
I'll just say that I took the time to do some research and the abuses are spread on both genders, it is just more publicized when men commits act of abuses,
I feel bad for those of us who suffered by the hand of women but couldn't do a thing because of societal stigmas, luckily things are slowly evolving.
statistically women do receive more abuse, but we can not ignore the fact that men do receive them too and we can't continue to ignore the numbers. do you know how hard it is for us to go to the police and denounce an abuse, you get laughed at if you're lucky

another thing before I head to bed, I think men should denounce every act of domestic abuse or things will never change, we should look for counseling and not laugh anymore like a frat boy when a female teacher is found to have abused a student,
this needs to stop, the next person who says "Hey, that kid got lucky he got a to fuck his teachers" should ask himself if he would say the same if the genders were reversed.I'm logging off I will not participate anymore in this thread

Yeah I nearly deleted this thread just before posting. Then I thought to myself fuckit... what am I afraid of? One off you disagreeing? One of the biggest problems about this issue is that no one is willing to talk about it because they might just say the wrong thing. (maybe I'll start a racism thread too)

"So where do we draw the line? I mean if a dude is in mid shag and she says stop, but he's about to pop so carries on for 20 seconds, is that rape?"
Yes, you fucking stop—what the hell is wrong with you to even ask?
All over the Internet I keep seeing young men complaining about rape laws and claiming women everywhere are falsely crying rape, and all it tells me is that women should be really concerned about the attitudes of the men they are meeting.
- <locustsloth
- I would, shoulda made that more clear. But you'll be surprised how many wouldn't.Projectile
