Head to Greenwich to check out the fancy new gondola over the river
A stroll in Primrose hill, where you see the skyline nicely
Mingle with the hipsters at broadstairs market in London Fields on sunday
Go to camden and laugh at all the silly stuff in Cyberdog. And be creeped out by the kiddies raver gear :s
Check out spoonfed.com or timeout to see if there are any one-off events. There seems to be something on every weekend

Village Underground and Corsica Studios are decent live music venues.

Just got back, fortunately this past week had perfect weather... hot and sunny. Thanks for all the tips they all really helped, I had the best week ever. Big ups to the Golden Union, had that the last night. Disappointed in the Indians restaurant we went to, but thats ok. Only thing that seemed completely foreign was that the city closes down at 12am?? Pubs and restaurants... everything... Couldn't even find street meat to eat after that time.

I went to see an exhibition of Da Vinci anatomy drawings at the Royal Collection(at Buckingham Palace) at the weekend.
I'd recommend it. I've never been there before, but while it's slap bang in tourist central, the gallery wasn't busy and you get to see loads of davinci's drawings upclose. The pages from the notebooks are mounted in double-sided frames, they're incredible to see in person. Turns out the queen owns them all!

Is it your first trip?
If so take a boat down the river, not the tourist trap ones, just a normal one, to help get your bearings and cross off the major landscapes real quick :)

Years ago I was in London, and about to buy a ticket for the underground, a young hippy-esque woman walked up to me, smiled and handed me a ticket... does this happen a lot or was I just lucky? It seemed a bit like when I was in Paris a long time ago and it seemed anyone under 30 would try to avoid paying for the metro by one person squeezing through the gate, then keeping it open for the next person and so on....
- did you notice your wallet missing afterwards?....that... how it goes in the Paris metromarychain
- hah! No... I was a paranoid young-un, I had a pouch wallet on a string around my neck inside my shirt....vaxorcist
- Nah, I've known people do that..mikotondria3

- I've been given unwanted travel cards a few times, and in turn have given mine away once it's no longer neededset

- Woah! Great... Thank you for all that.MHDC

i realize you are in England and probably want to do english things, but i recommend this place for some excellent food, atmosphere and the best selection of Belgian beers.
