What you want is a hardware based encoder to take the pressure off of your computer's processor and reduce the data transfer required. Something like this H.264 encoder would do the trick:

I ordered the intensity pro card the other day, since there was only 1 review with audio sync issues, that guy (im hoping) just didnt do it right, and I think he was on a PC. cheapest way to add thunderbolt to my macPro was 600 bones.

I know a guy with a cheap Dell with some hardware encoders in it who does all his encoding on it while he edits on his mac computer, then moves the files once they're done to his mac... kind of an assembly line process for him...

uses express card 3/4 which is a bit shit now.. but they also have a card option
