Im shopping for 1 and am wondering, what are you guys using and how do you like it?
im considering getting one of these:
the intensity pro (pci card above)'s amazon reviews says theres audio/video sync issues with it and thats after you buy a separate audio card to even grab the audio in the first place.as for the external capture devices my issue is my 'MacPro4,1 Quad-Core Intel Xeon' doesnt have USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt and since i cant seem to find thunderbolt cards i might have to go the route of a USB 3.0 card.

What you want is a hardware based encoder to take the pressure off of your computer's processor and reduce the data transfer required. Something like this H.264 encoder would do the trick:

I ordered the intensity pro card the other day, since there was only 1 review with audio sync issues, that guy (im hoping) just didnt do it right, and I think he was on a PC. cheapest way to add thunderbolt to my macPro was 600 bones.

I know a guy with a cheap Dell with some hardware encoders in it who does all his encoding on it while he edits on his mac computer, then moves the files once they're done to his mac... kind of an assembly line process for him...
