Not really feeling the way CSS works in Coda 2.
Currently I use Dreamweaver, which I know is bloated with features I'll never use, but I simply use it because I own it. Now that CS6 is a subscription, is Dreamweaver really so bad? The way I see it, you get Dreamweaver free since you probably are going to subscribe to CS6 for Photoshop, Fireworks, etc.
I feel like Dreamweaver works just fine as a code editor, and not too bad as an FTP client and site manager. Plus, having check-in or whatever it's called seems like a plus for working on projects with other people who might also be using Dreamweaver. Am I wrong?
- Did you ever tried Espresso? If you feel that way because of CSS the definitely try Espresso.ESKEMA
- there is no wrong, only preference. i like DW as well.prophetone
- I know. I didn't say he was wrong, was just asking if he tried Espresso.ESKEMA
- The question is... now that I'm going to have DW included with CS6, why buy something that does the same tasks?nb

Coda 2 is a step forward, but I just cannot get the Diet Coda App/Coda 2 Air Preview working for love nor money.
- ESKEMA0
^^ its a bit tricky, I managed to get it working by closing Diet Coda, clicking on AirPreview, then open Diet Coda, then click AirPreview, then click outside, then click Airpreview again. I'm sure they will fix this :P
- lolz @ technique... I was mildly confused by the "hold the ipad camera up to the monitor" deal-e...ideaist

Coda 2 has insanely stupid code completion for HTML.
When I type <span> (or <p>) it doesn't add closing tag automatically. Tag gets closed once "</" are typed. I know that I can write my own clips but that defeats the purpose of code completion. Is there way of changing that? This is what I have in my settings: http://d.pr/i/dAnJ

eskema, i'm about to purchase this but the live CSS thing is big for me as I am a bit of a dunce. does the "live updating" feature not act similar to Espresso?
- only with local files, I couldn't manage to have it work while editing online filesESKEMA

^ It makes more sense this way, the automagical completion Coda1 had always got in my way. This way you have more control, you'll get used to it. It also helps you get tag nesting right.
It was the main feature Dreamweaver had and I wished Coda would, glad it does now.

Can't find any info about that...

Interface definitely feels more complicated than before. I love the new file browser stuff, miss the CSS editor.

^I'm completely in love with Espresso.
- Me too. I only bought Coda because of the 50% sale. I will still be using Espresso because I work a lot with CSS...ESKEMA
- Me too, but ill give Coda2 a run and see....ArmandoEstrada
- Espresso looks pretty awesome. Thanks for the tip.nocomply
- + X-Ray in Espresso is imperative. I still miss some CSSEdit features like milestones and Re-Indent.ESKEMA

Re price for version 1 owners:
If you bought Coda 1 very recently (after April 10, 2012) directly from us, you are entitled to a free upgrade. Unfortunately, Apple does not provide us a way to give free upgrades to all customers who purchased Coda 1 from the Mac App Store recently. However:
For the first 24 hours of sale ONLY, Coda 2 will be available at a 50% discount (USD $49) to EVERYONE -- new customers, existing customers, direct customers, and Mac App Store customers.
After that, for a limited time, we will offer Coda 2 for USD $75 to EVERYONE -- new customers, existing customers, direct customers, and Mac App Store customers. This allows our Mac App Store customers to enjoy the same upgrade pricing as direct customers.
After that, Coda's price will return to its regular pricing (USD $99) for new direct customers, and all Mac App Store customers. A USD $75 upgrade will continue to be offered for existing direct customers who purchased Coda 1.

Just for the record on the live CSS preview thing, it doesn't work as good as Espresso. I could only make it work on HTML pages. If I'm editing say a PHP CMS site, I'm unable to make a live CSS preview of the edits. Unless there's something I'm missing...

re: nb + Dreamweaver
For the price Dreamweaver has very poor functionality and it's programmed very poorly. Yes you can get by just using it as a code editor but why should you get by when far better options are available. For example Dreamweaver has barely any scripting support and the support it does have pales next to something like Textmate.
Built in FTP isn't really essential anymore because decent FTP clients can keep your local changes in check with a remote server. Then again you shouldn't really be working like that anymore, it should be about developing locally on a local web server then pushing the changes.
Dreamweavers check-in code management, again this might have been useful 10 years ago but these days this is better taken care of by git or svn, by abstracting things like this from the development tool you get the freedom for each developer to work how they want.

Version 2.5 just came out, and finally has a proprietary (non-iCloud) sync function for sites/prefs/passwords etc.
But fuck, if that's not the most illegible headline I've ever seen.
- haha; this application is indispensable. Now more than ever. Once Diet Coda syncs all is good in the world.ideaist

I updated to 2.5, now my publish tab is doing this. Anyone have this happen? I tried deleting the updated version and downloading fresh, but no dice.

@ESKEMA
I will give it a try. I was using zen coding for aptana studio but I replaced it with RubyMine while ago.@raf
I won't get used to it; I know this is personal preference but I wish it was something configurable. I am using Visual Studio most of the time and I would like to have similar behaviour across platforms.

"Why is this feature missing from so many code editors? It's one of the few things Dreamweaver does well."
The beauty of a decent text editor is that it should be extendable, Sublime Text is based on Textmate and that achieves functionality by leveraging http://tidy.sourceforge.net/ . There isn't any reason ST2 could do the same.
