Trying to pick up playing again, but no picks, just picking and clawhammer on steel strings, the rear cutaway is a Pasadena, a polish piece of junk with high action so I just got the Gregg Bennett in front and it's loud and responsive, any tips besides practise till you don't think about placement anymore? it will be a long time before I get the alternating thumb bass down while plucking a melody, sigh

- Just play it with the two low strings, and the two high stirngs--no D or G--like the guy from The B-52s.boobs

Anything by SRV gives me chills. NOBODY in blues has ever nailed a guitar sound and style and playing ability like him as far as I'm concerned. It's mesmerizing to watch and listen to. And his flamboyance, you kind of look at it and are a little taken aback, but then you realize he was so freaking awesome he could do whatever he wanted. If you don't know much about him, definitely read up on him.
- Tell me that breakdown in between singing doesn't blow you away. The way he kept such a fast rhythm while playing so much single note strumming is amazing.mg33
- so much single note accented strumming is amazing.mg33
- Agreed. He has the most beautiful sound that's come out of a strat imo. Sorry Jimi.VectorMasked

That last post reminded me of Buckethead. Always been a fan of his. Amazing guitar player. Despite his odd looks and heavy metal tendencies, he can play some incredibly melodic stuff.

OK, last of SRV. Lenny live in Tokyo in 1985. I love this song.
- Clampton is so overrated and SRV isn't given enough cred.robotron3k
- the live at el mocambo is the illest version of this tune.ApeRobot
