  Anything by SRV gives me chills. NOBODY in blues has ever nailed a guitar sound and style and playing ability like him as far as I'm concerned. It's mesmerizing to watch and listen to. And his flamboyance, you kind of look at it and are a little taken aback, but then you realize he was so freaking awesome he could do whatever he wanted. If you don't know much about him, definitely read up on him.

  Firstly, Derek Trucks, his slide playing is immense, totally fresh, not like any other slide players, so much so that Clapton recruited him for his band. Love his indian influenced playing:

  • get an acoustic first. Learn chords. Then when you get better, buy a cheap Strat– BaskerviIle1/8

    Any brand of acoustic. Just try to find one where the strings are easier to push down on the fretboard without buzzing– locustsloth3/8

    in terms of a cheap acoustic, go for a Yamaha, they're well made even when cheap. Or a 2nd hand one– BaskerviIle4/8

    yeah if you get an acoustic you don't need an amp– scarabin5/8

    definitely acoustic ... probably one that has a good sound– monospaced6/8

    I'm learning on a cheap electric (Epiphone Special) - small and easier on my fingers than acoustic– monkeyshine7/8

    Because electrics are easier on the fingers, is exactly the reason you should start on an acoustic. Start hard and get good fast– BaskerviIle8/8
