...Coz my 'please send me condolences' thread needs to be an 'of the day' type.
Got burgled today.
4 laptops
3TB of external hard drives (ALL MY BACKUPS)
1 iPod
1 Traumatised little dog who was shoved in the basement during the break in...Nothing too valuable but my girlfriend's wonderful little superspecced Hackintosh laptop got taken... And whoever has it now does not know how awesome it is. OC'ed C2Duo to 3.1GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB Internal Storage with an 80GB SSD for OSX and it'll be pawned for like £100 because it's a not-new Dell on the outside!

... And my awesome XBMC setup with Sickbeard, Headphones, CouchPotato and DropBox watched NZB folder so I can make my home machine download things when I add things on the train or at work...

Any laptop donations are welcome? If anyone's generous I'd also take a nice DSLR. Never had one but I'll milk the sympathy for all it's worth!

@goldie Same really. They just had to find all my backup drives too. As I do the odd bit of laptop work and buy/sell I have loads of them. They took 4 (3 of which were heavily customised with both hardware and software) and left 7 that were just not in plain sight in my at-home office.
The one drawer they took things from is where I keep my backups that aren't in plain sight. It's my girlfriend's laptop that pisses me off the most as that had all our pictures and our 'Home Movies' on. If anything I hope they leak so we can at least get them back!

I got broken into last year. Stole PowerBook, harddrives, Canon DSLR and other bits and pieces. Now when I leave the house I lock everything up.
The only thing worse than coming home to house that's been broken into is the paranoia that comes with thinking it will happen again.
My advice, scan / photograph your items and receipts and upload them offsite. Helps with insurance claim.
Condolences on your losses.

Really sorry to hear. No matter what gets nicked and how much comfort there is from it being replaceable, it's still shite.
Last time it happened to me the cnz emptied the kitchen bin contents in the lounge - assuming they used the liners to carry it all. Amongst many things they took my game console and 100+ games, leaving just one shit one, which I briefly found amusing...
