While I did read the post on the website, along with the rationale provided, I was more responding to the thread title, "Pentagram is OUT of touch..."
I think it's the nature of a lot of their corporate clientele that dictate how baseline some of their corporate identity work.
Wether or not DJ who-gives-a-fuck worked on a shitty identity is not the issue here.
The issue as I see it is that Pentagram is as susceptible to producing mediocre work as any studio/firm out there in the world. Something being 'out of touch' is as subjective criteria for critiquing design as i've ever heard.
What should really be observed are the formal qualities(or lack thereof) of the work being produced.
