Im running 3 displays
• 50" plasma
• 21" apple lcd
• 24" Samsung T
I try avoiding looking at the 50" as much as I can because the res is too low and the color sucks

christ... don't actually try and do work on a TV... that's just silly.
Get a monitor that can take HDMI

Max resolution is 1920 x 1080 and they're usually not as refined as a monitor, but they do work. Do not recommend for PS, but go ahead for coding or whatever.

Would a monitor with speakers work better in that case? I would only play xbox on it as a tv and I wouldn't care how that looks as much as work stuff.

do you have any recommendations by any chance?

most new tvs have HDMI , your computer or laptop should have hdmi , just go hdmi from computer to tv
i had a set up witha mac book but had to get the miniDVi converter , my TV had a DVI in so I just went miniDVI to DVI , had no audio unless I plugged in my computer speakers , then I used the IPad remote keyboard app and just sat on the couch and used the ipad as keys and mouse, i gamed it up mainly

If things look funky once you set this up, make sure you are in HDMI 1 on the TV and look up how to force the TV to use true RGB color mode (usually w samsungs it means editing the name of the source type to PC - totally stupid but totally nessisary).

i use my hd tv as a convenience... hooking up my laptop to watch torrents, etc. and maybe browse the web and check email while it's connected, but not as a monitor for work. def not design work...

I've got a 25" TV hooked up to my iMac as a secondary monitor. In terms of colour there isn't a great deal of difference between the two. The iMac is a fair sight brighter though.
Aren't monitors generally cheaper than TV's though? Unless you want something more than 28"
