They told you that? I turned down a few people recently, but I would never tell them. Damn.
- I'm glad they did mono, I wonder how long its been there?hektor911
- You don't give feedback, mono? That's a bit.. king of the hill, isn't it?detritus
- I don't tell people why they weren't hired. I give tons of feedback though.monospaced
- Ah, fair enough - i fgured that was a terrible ting to 'show off' about!detritus
- ..I know someone who, showing off, said he put prospectives through 4-5 interviews, gave homework ..detritus
- and, basically, made the entire process totally shit. He thought it made him look great. I thought it made him look tiny and incompetent.detritus
- ..and incompetent.detritus
- He no longer manages, and often rues his situation, wondering out aloud why.
I give him no feedback...detritus - ..which, I guess, makes me kinda tiny.detritus
- This was an ePill-esque note hijack™detritus

look for misspellings in their job posting and parry with counter-attack

always nerve-racking when they bring in a copywriter for the interview. If you went to a design school you would know. At portfolio time had an english major go line by line check text.
Always have someone else look your work over. you could look at a project for a month and not see an error that someone else will spot immediately.

plus, like, computers have spell check nowadays.
- yeah but even misspelled words can be correct and grammar check doesn't always pick up.74LEO

i once printed 30k posters, 10k postcards, 5k business cards and 2k mailers all with a huge glaring typo on them. there were only 5 words on the entire graphic - that was one of my first jobs, tough lesson- but learned well.
- what was the mistak? pics or it didn't happen.doesnotexist
- i've destroyed all evidence. really, i had a bonfire with it. but i spelled the word 'surprise' as "suprise"bjladams

- That's why proofreader's exist. The person designing the piece should never be the person checking it for errors.section_014

We got a portfolio from a copywriter with a few typos in it... we never called him back or told him. I wonder how many times he sent it out like that before someone told him why he wasn't getting call backs.

Depending on the position you're applying for, I would turn you down because of a typo on your resumé (not you per sé, more the 'royal you').
- but sorry for your missed opportunity all the same; it will help you in the long run though.bulletfactory
