Essentially all the same but obviously premiere has much tighter integration to after effects than fcp or avid. After jumping the fcp ship, the apparent alternative was already installed on my box, just never used.

so my new imac is on the way. it comes with a big hd plus a ssd. everyone says install system and an apps on the ssd so they start up faster, but i care the fewest about boot and start up times. so what is to put where to get the best work and render speed results?
- i find the problem with SSD's for AE work is that I usually spit out massive files, files too big for an SSD (over 128gb)Hombre_Lobo
- of course you can get bigger SSD's but they cost a chunk. RAID seems to be the best cost effective option.Hombre_Lobo

i am sure that many people will say Final Cut - but video editing programs seem kind of the same to me, they tend to have similar features.....Premiere works fine for me. AE is where I do the heavy lifting.....

final bump for this - i'm going to set up the aparillo on the weekend. i still could not find out about the actual performance profit-taking installation of the ssd. re-paste: everyone says install system and an apps on the ssd so they start up faster, but i care the fewest about boot and start up times. so what is to put where to get the best work and render speed results?
