The Safety Cell might be able to take 9000lbs of pressure but that rating will only be on certain points.A friend used to own a Smart ForTwo and was in a crash at a cross roads in a city centre (so not high speed) where another car smashed into the side of him.
Him and his girlfriend were in hospital for nearly a week because of all the bruising and swelling from the bump.

Today, a squirrel is safer. It will walk away from an 80mph impact with a Smart car. Also, I hope you know how to repair flats without that spare.

ohsnap,
oh im liking it. Zipping through the city doing 75mph. always parking. use like 20 bucks a week on gas... and your friends cant ask you to move them
- I love helping my friends out. It's what friends are for.nb
- That said, unless you're a complete minimalist you should be renting a truck to move. Much more efficient.nb
- i still help them out... just with a rented car. why do people around here always mive in summer anyways?CALLES
- where are you CALLES? it sounds so perfect. taking it for a test last wk of june. i know you feel bumps but i don'tohhhhhsnap

cheap old cars are an environmental godsend...
my scientist/engineer/physicist father always laughs at people who buy new cars to "save the environment" because most people don't know it takes a HUGE amount of energy to actually make a car, usually a large percentage of ALL the energy it will consume within 100,000 miles, so you're consuming energy in order to "save energy" when in fact it's more fashion, that you want to LOOK LIKE YOU'RE CARING FOR THE PLANET.... if you really did run the numbers, you'd be driving an early 1990's GEO METRO...
