Hip hop as an art form - yes, it's probably dead, the same way punk rock is dead. No one is creating anything new. Also Skrillex killed dubstep.

Hip hop died alooooong time ago.
1st nail in the coffin: story-telling rap was too much work when you could just rhyme everything with brand names.
2nd nail in the coffin: metaphors that even infants would be embarrassed to admit they created.
3rd nail in the coffin: Too many songs released at the same time produced by the same person as rappers jumped to whoever was hot at the time (ie pharell, timbaland).
- Try listening to things other than radio rap, you might gain some perspective.BRNK
