"What’s the point of my story? Pixar did all this under the guidance of Steve Jobs, who died this week at the age of 56. He owned the company and while Jobs may have envisioned Pixar software and even Pixar computer systems, he listened when John Lasseter pitched him on a feature-length, all CGI-movie."

Nice, you're all happy and so am I that Steve's mom didn't abort him!
Agreed for once.
- plash0
popfodders, i can tolerate other opinions in this world. more the merrier. but you're conclusions are all wrong here. Jobs personal drive to define himself and his company was the catalyst to the success. you equate his adoption and the choices his mother made as a direct link to contribution and meaning Jobs did in this world. as if that and that alone was the significant event.
now it is true that if his mother killed him as a fetus he would not be here. But you use his celebrity status to prove an unrelated point. and that is a cheap way to move people. Why not us Jesus, Cesar, jeffrey dahmer or even Hitler as mentioned ... all are credible choices by your way of rational. i guess i expected more cleverness out of you.

If you don't like it too fucking bad. I'm just posting an interesting article. He didn't come from much and managed to do it all as an adopted kid. Which probably wasn't that easy, albeit his surrogate parents obviously did a great job, needless to say his mother was probably young and dumb, but still had the guts to have him.
POINT BEING!

Really? Now it's an abortion thread?
Go back to the celebrity worship (exactly what it is).

Abortion, Adoption, and Steve Jobs
http://communities.washingtontim…Jobs’ biological parents were Joanne Simpson and Abdulfattah John Jandali. Although the details of Simpson and Jandali’s relationship have not been made public, we do know a good deal about Mr. Jandali. A Syrian immigrant, he came to the United States to pursue his higher education in 1949. According to The Daily Mail, he is now vice president of a casino in Reno, Nevada. At the time, however, Joanne’s parents would not allow the two to get married.
For that reason, Jobs was given up for adoption to his parents Paul and Clara Jobs.
Eighteen years later saw the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which paved the way for hundreds of millions of legal abortions to take place in the United States over the following years. In 1955, abortion was nowhere near as prevalent as it is today. It was primarily rejected by society as the termination of innocent life.
Instead, adoptions were preferred. Adoptions ensure that children are given life. Jobs’ adoption was very beneficial, creating and shaping him into the leader that he would later become.
What would a world look like in which Steve Jobs had been aborted?
Out of the 52 million abortions in the US in the past 38 years, how many other Jobs’s have we extinguished?

there was something that crossed my mind yesterday and I've just seen one of the technology reporters on the BBC website has written about it today. In fact he has written an apology to Tim Cook.
It revolves around the fact that the Apple launch was so muted and stilted in its delivery - this lead to many bad write ups in the press, people saying Cook can't present like Jobs could and as a whole Apple didn't sell the iPhone 4s very strongly.
But now knowing what we do now, it was a presentation given under extenuating circumstances and must have been so tough for anyone who had any knowledge of how close to the end he was.
