I have some faith in Denis Villeneuve, he hasn't made a bad film yet, has he? I thought Prisoners would be more boring Hollywood crap, but it was one of the best movies of 2013.
Also I read a quote from a couple of the producers referring to Villeneuve as a "singular talent". Maybe that means they're willing to let him make something good.
- But, if you go into the sequel & spend the whole time comparing it with the original, you are guaranteed to be disappointed.nb

I just don't want to see anything from Bladerunner explained. That's all these sequels end up doing.
Bladerunner is esoteric and fascinating as a film - leaves your imagination running long after the film is over. Hate to see that spoiled.

Blade Runner Sequel Will Explain How Deckard Is A Replicant

- There is another film to be made in the Blade Runner world - the PC game showed it could be done well - but not as a direct sequel.face_melter

“...we start off at what I describe as a ‘factory farm’ – what would be a flat land with farming. Wyoming. Flat, not rolling – you can see for 20 miles. No fences, just ploughed, dry dirt.
“Turn around and you see a massive tree, just dead, but the tree is being supported and kept alive by wires that are holding the tree up. It’s a bit like The Grapes of Wrath; there’s dust, and the tree is still standing. By that tree is a traditional, Grapes of Wrath-type white cottage with a porch. Behind it at a distance of two miles, in the twilight, is this massive combine harvester that’s fertilising this ground."
Ridley Scott reveals details of opening scene of Blade Runner sequel
http://www.theguardian.com/film/…- was hoping they wouldn't start in a cyberpunk city... i imagine this is going to be not what people are expecting, which is a good thing.inteliboy

Ridley Scott's runway is very short...he better get crackin' on finishing up Blade Runner, instead of giving a gazillion interviews.

I'm in. Fuck me, I'm in.

- They never have scenes were, prior to a big fight or chase, the lead was in the middle of eating some dinner or taking a dump. The touch of reality is lacking.fruitsalad

*(trash can 17)sted - Everyone already knew that Deckard was a replicant. Kind of rolled my eyes at Gosling sighting, but whatever.garbage
- The original is weird to me because it's a great movie but I hate Scott. He claims he never read the book (because he didn't have to?), yet also takes credit..garbage
- ..for the noir style setting , saying that was a stylistic choice of his own making. The source material is written that way.. But whatever I'll watch.garbage
- that synth tho, gave me the chillshelloeatbreathedrive
- Did Syd Mead have anything to do with art direction? If not... I'll be sad. That's what made the original for me.ShaneHolley

A while ago I would have smashed the fingers of anyone who contemplated the merest thought of a Blade Runner sequel, but now, totally fuck it - give me more Spinners, definitely more Mercer, more bizarro fake animals, and more rain and neon.
And that behind-the-head shot at the end is mint.
- utopian-3
Just another unimaginative Hollywood regurgitated remake.
