yeah, i don't want to do any kind of lightboxing. the idea is to get viewer from my site to yours as quickly as possible. the gallery provides a snapshot of your work and style, the info to better assess your experience and the your url/contact info to get them in touch with you. this *can* be expanded on in a later phase, and most likely will be after i've received sufficient feedback, but my goal is to keep it simple.

no, there won't be a dedicated page for portfolio's. all content will remain inline. however, i am toying with the idea of allowing profiles to be deeplinked so google can find you guys better. not sure of any negative implications here

hi, again. have taken a look 12hrs later. something that still bothers me: the buttons on the bottom left of each entry. it's not going to be clear to the end user that those lead to different fields of content; rather than just connoting "pages".
hate to fuck with the simplicity but this would be a good place for icons.

and @registe, yes, i have the all the components i need to set up ip detection and pre-filter for proximity, as well as provide location as a search option. currently marked as a todo
- cool, just a suggestion as i saw you had mentioned it earlier in the thread, over all an idea i likeregiste
- What about those of us who want to be found by interested parties outside our geographic area?Continuity
- search i presume will still provide accurate resultsregiste

@SteveJobs: Any site used to promote your work. B.ehance, C.argo, Virb, Krop, etc, etc...
People mainly use these sites for ease of use, but they also use it do to the higher potential of exposure.

I see your point, but don't discount common intuition. Anyone genuinely interested in someone's work is bound to click through to explore that interest. The lack of immediately visible contact info, for example, would likely cause somone to rightly assume there's more beyond the description. Having said that, I'll probably make the name clickable to point to your site to help out the confounded.
- it's clear that there's "more" there but not what that more would be. from a database pov i would want to make the tools obvious....MrAbominable
- ....i think it currently looks pretty but i assume that i'm not the desired client.MrAbominable

CuriousGeorge, those site are primarily for creating an online presense or portfolio. This site is more about efficient searching. It's like google, but all results point to you and offer a snapshot of you and your work. In fact, I see Graphik Index as pushing more traffic to those sites you mentioned, rather than stealng it.
More to come..

I thought the intent was to get status and who is available for freelance work?
- kalkal0
ok, who is this Sample guy? His work is amazing.
- dbloc0
cool. first though with the little nav circles was that it would move to the next set of images. That part doesn't seem very elegant.
I guess you'll be adding details as you go. For something done in 24hrs this is ace! Good job!

So, at which point will real content from real people replace placeholder content?
- dyspl0
Very nice!
Just added my account
- popfodders0
very nicely done
- SteveJobs0
Continuity, you should be able to upload now. I think there was a glitch earlier today that should be taken care of. Once you've got content up AND have verified your email, your profile will be visible.
A lot have signed up, but everybody is waiting for everybody else to go first it looks like, haha. Just do it!
